Bhp, first decide on whether the Vtec or the Lancer , and then go hunting.
U will finds loads of Lancers in bbay for sale.
Vtec would be a little less, but no shortage though.

dear Moderators , ther is another similar topic by bhp , can u merge both of them.

Done Dipen... thanks

BHP... i suggest you to go for a stock 1.5 City for modification purposes since most VTECs on the cheaper side just kiss the 5 lakh mark. Plus VTECs can only have minimum mods for reasons of driveability and reliability unless you are getting it done from a thorough professional who can handle VTECs (which is not many).

The 1.5 is a very good car. Its engine is relatively simple. Mods really make that car very charming. And at 4 lakhs, you might get a nice 2000-2001 model. But low mileage citys are a bit rare, so u might have to hunt them down. Getting a well maintained one though isn't difficult.

Lancers are great cars. Lovely handlers and good ride quality. But modifications don't really make as much a difference on them as on the City. Plus they can become a maintenance nightmare if driven to the limit at most times. Especially used ones. Also the parts are more expensive. The average basket of parts of a Lancer 1.5 are 93,000 for most commonly used parts and parts that are damaged frequently in accidents, while that of Honda City is around 60-65k tops. The Baleno is at 57k.

Bhp

u are looking for a car solely for modifying ,
then the Baleno is pretty good as well , if u can live with the rear looks.
its 16 value plant is decently refined.
Also , baleno of similar vintage would work out to be almost 1.5 lak cheaper than the 1.5 city.
Ride quality if not better equals the 1.5 city
And nith touches the aircon of the Baleno, not even the C -classes

Give it a thought!!!

thanks guys for ur suggestions and keep them coming
i dont like the baleno that much . my uncle is a used car dealer in andheri and he is hunting some good low mileage car for me these days . u guys also spread the word around . i dont wanna buy a car through a dealer bcoz those cars are not maintained properly (expect some) and they sell at a higher price . after i the get the car i will be just be doing the exterior of the cars and the free flow headers . and then at a later stage will work on getting some more power from the car . i wanna go in for the lancer bcoz i wanted to put a evo kit to it .
thankyou guys

185/65 R14 sound ok but would have preffered a 185/60 R14. Are the tyres tubeless?

As far as I know the GLi never came in black ... I remember the showroom guy here at Fortpoint telling me so. I think you would only get white or some "solid" colors which didnt include the black which was "metallic" .. or something to that tune. He knew I had my eyes set on the black, so maybe he was just making it up so i dont end up buying the GL instead of the SFX lol.

Of course I bought neither!

Gl i does come in metallic colors , coz I have seen Gl in metallic colors , so GLi has to have metallic colors , though not sure abt the black color.

hey guys the negotiation is still not done bcoz the owner of the car is not available for the meeting . his secretary is ready to take the token if the deal is finalized at 5 lakhs , but i feel if i talk to the owner there are chances of a little more negotiation so waiting and keeping my fingers crossed . the token is ready with me the day i saw the car
