Fake people on the internet, What to be done? - Team-BHP

Hey guys, am an avid user of orkut and came across many fake profiles so far. Not only orkut but many other networking sites like hi5 and the like. But it really hit me today when I bumped into a profile of a 18 year old guy claiming Arush's Barracuda (1.8 Octavia) and Venom (Lancer) to be his! I asked him initially if he knew Arush, he was obviously ignorant. And he was like I got 'my' rides done up from Delhi. I obviously am not foolish enough to confirm a 'DL' registered car to be from Delhi!

So I told him about Arush and ART. This guy after that began abusing me and ignored me! And later went back to showing off 'his' rides to his friends. I could do nothing more than complain about him to orkut. Isnt there anything we can do about such cases?

I have a friend of mine whos profile was made showing uncensored pics reported abuse but no action was taken till now

In this case u might be right
But there are a few modded rides from Autopsyche which are owned by very young ppl (infact kids)

I know that, the Kronik is my friend's car, he is a teen too. But the Barrucuda is DEFINITELY not his. Plus this guy is from hyderabad and claims to own the Lancer Venom which I think is owned by some fellow T-Bhpian (non-hydi)...and he doesnt even know who Arush is!

Now days every thing is getting connected to the net....it has some advantages and some disadvantages....the above problem is a disadvantage and we have to accept it..and the best thing is to stay away from it...

There are many-many fake profiles in internet.
For example, the owner of "hate India" community who claims to be a Russian is actually a Pakistani national. What's funny, people from India scrap him with hate messages for Russia! Look what a fake profile can do!

Well, there are a handful of fakes on Team-BHP also. A previously banned member comes back and falsely claims that he owns a Palio. Maybe he chose Fiat to gain popularity!

WOW... never knew this

Ya man there are a lot of fakes that is why i am very less active on these communities. My friends list only contains people whom i have known for years or met OR my friends friends and most of them are on my MSN and Yahoo. Only about 10% people are like the ones i added but i know they are not fake as i have their MSN / Home address + Mob numbers lol..

The only thing is to avoid them and warn your friends

I have came across people like 5 people who have same pictures and everyone claims its their own lol...

best way is to stop using these online friends sites. go out socialize and make REAL friends not virtual. i keep in contact with old friends thru phone, email, messenger etc. why would i put up what i like to eat and my pictures online?
call me old fashioned, but i hate okrut, hi5, facebook etc.
