Dev D

It's a trippy ride allright !! All I am going to say is either people will like it or hate it.

Me - I enjoyed the movie. It's a different way of telling a classic tale and be warned there is loads and loads and loads of drinking, smoking, snorting in the movie. Add to that some swearing - watch out with whom you watch

Abhay Deol and Mahi (Paro) are superb while Kalki is not bad too - for me the show stealer was Chunni. The music and cinematography is awesome. Delhi's underbelly is shot brilliantly. Also the tripping shots are awesome.

Again - the movie is a bit too long.

Verdict 4/5

And not many are going to agree with my verdict

All shows @ PVR, Phoenix except the 5 pm one were sold out. So we drove to Imax - and watched it with around 20 people in the biggest hall at Imax

People were enjoying the show. And yeah I forgot to tell you guys - before the movie starts - you are shown the trailer of GULAL - another Anurag Kashyap movie - and boy o boy - that is one movie to watch out for

Dev - D : The first one hour is hilarious then it gets a bit serious. From MMS scandals to BMW Accident case everything is covered. The music is awesome and so is the picturisation. Performances by Kalki and parro is very nice. But its a 30mins too long! Overall a nice movie.

3.5/5

DEV D -

Just watched the movie in ADLABS, went for the recliner seat @ 300 /-

One word - Brilliant !!

Abhay Deol is emerging as a brilliant and great actor. He has carved a niche for himself which not many people are in.

The new girl Kalki is brilliant and you just fall in love with her. Paro ( Mahi ) is good.

Chunni as NC said is again tops. His role is superb and funny ( especially the glass smashing / pillow scene ) Had me in splits.

One word of Caution again - DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT watch the movies with your parents / younger siblings etc. Take your wife but beware it has some really explicit talk ( in a funny way of course )

The movie is fun for the first half where you see all sides of Punjab & Delhi ( Paharganj ).

The second movie is more serious and Dark.

It's got a very nice feel to it and then a sad feel to it also.

Nowhere near the Devdas originals but similar in a very slight way.

I would give this movie a 4.5 / 5. Go watch it guys ( and I mean guy's )

NC - this one time I agree with you buddy

Sounds good. Will try to catch it this weekend.
Also, what's 'Gulal' about? Who's starring in it?

DEV D

Back from watching DEV D. I absolutely loved this movie. Its surprising that these off beat movies entertain you completely everytime. It was hillarious, silly and serious post interval. Abhay Deol is brilliant. He is perfect for these kind of roles. Very underrated actor. Kalki puts in a good performance on debut. Mahie is HOT. And Chunni is in a class of his own. An awesome character.

Go watch it. And the Emotional Atyachaar song has everyone dancing in their seats, singing and blowing whistles. What a track. It's an anthem now I guess

Rating: 4/5

The cast of the film includes Kay Kay Menon, Jesse Randhawa, Deepak Dobriyal, Aditya Shrivastav and Seema Rehmani, besides newcomers like Raja Choudhury, Ayesha Mohan and Abhimanyu Singh. Chk this for more info 'Gulal' my tribute to Sahir Ludhianvi: Anurag Kashyap

That's good - I couldn't understand what the hell was going on in Revolver - it was deep psychotic stuff! Was hoping this new one would be better.

Now that Madonna madam is out of his life, maybe he can concentrate on what he does best.

+1 N_C,

Great spoof on Devdas (Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai & Madhuri Dixit)

Great movie, I approach the movie from what the director is trying to convey, be it his medium, most important story and plot, the effects are all there, awesome effects first time used in a hindi flick.

The abusing, sub plots & locales are not meant for the indian average belly.

I would say it will rock in the urban/literate belts, god help the theatre seats & fittings in the rural belts.

Movies to avoid.

How to Lose friends and Alienate people, COMPLETE waste of Jeff Bridges as an actor, very limp. American Pie was better. read as (had some sense in its senseless humour).

Another movie which is a mixed bag is - Marley & Me. Pet (read Dog lovers) will like it. I found the meaning pretty profound, and its only in the last 2 minutes that the movie brings in its meanings. If you are practical and critical, please do not waste your time on this movie, as you will start wondering why the family takes so much ATYACHAR from the dog.

Thank god for torrents.
Cheers
M M
