If you check the Malaysian or the Singapore site.... they have a 1.6 Lancer in the Cedia shell sold as Lancer and not Cedia...

In the Malaysian site, they are selling a version called the ralliart which is essentially the Cedia sport without a rear spoiler.

I AM IN

I don't know why HM doesn't consider india as a niche market for its premium car's like the new lancer etc.
India I think is a very big market for the premium brands.
Considering the bigger players like the lambhorghini's and porche's in india HM must consider this 10th gen. lancer in india.

you should be happy instead. I would anyday buy a cedia 1.6 over NHC. But then They should replace cedia 2.0 with Lancer ex 2.0

The current Cedia with the 2.0 engine aint a drag racer winner and a 1.6 in that body shell wont help it either.

There was news long time back on team-bhp about a 1.6 Lancer, what ever happened to it?

price for the lancer petrl was reduced to 6.54 and now to 6.44
so the diesel is also now 7.49.

Is it good value compared to the competiton? even base Honda city in Mumbai is 7.13, maruti sx4 base is 6.54.

links to the price

Guys,

Here is the confirmation for the HM-Mitsu breakup! It's the best news I have heard for a long time for the Cedia!

The Hindu Business Line : Mitsubishi Motors, HM ties to undergo significant change

Entire article:

Japanese auto giant will now manage marketing function

K Giriprakash

Bangalore, Aug. 16 The partnership between Japanese auto giant Mitsubishi Motors and Hindustan Motors appears set to undergo a significant change. Mitsubishi Motors will henceforth play a greater role in the marketing and distribution of all its passenger cars in India.
For starters, the partners have initiated the process of appointing a new marketing advisor for marketing and sales of all Mitsubishi products in India.
Currently, Hindustan Motors not only manufactures some of the passenger cars of Mitsubishi, but also markets all its products.
Confirming the development, Hindustan Motors head for corporate communications, Ms Soni Shrivastav, told Business Line that the marketing advisor will report to the Hindustan Motors’ business head and will work as part of the team.
“This (new step) is being carried out on the initiative of Mitsubishi Motors to strengthen its presence in India,” Ms Shrivastav said. She said this is part of an initiative to ensure better product penetration of Mitsubishi passenger cars in the country.

Sources close to the developments told Business Line that this move could lead to major changes in the relationship between Hindustan Motors and Mitsubishi. “It is evolving. We don’t know how the future ties are going to develop from here onwards,” sources said.
Sources say that one of the first indications of the changing relationship between the two car giants was revealed during the launch of Montero. While most of the new Mitsubishi products were launched in Chennai, where Hindustan Motors has a car manufacturing plant, or in Delhi, the Montero was launched in Mumbai, which is the biggest market for premium passenger cars, followed by Delhi.
Another factor noticed during the launch was the large participation of officials from Mitsubishi. The development comes at a time when all the Japanese car manufacturers in India are performing extremely well while Mitsubishi is yet to take full advantage of the boom in the auto industry here.
Mitsubishi’s portfolio in India includes, Lancer, Lancer Cedia and the sports utility vehicles, Pajero and Montero which was launched recently. The Lancer, which costs about Rs 6.75 lakh, and the Cedia, which costs about Rs 8.6 lakh, sell a total of around 250 units per month and are manufactured in India while the Pajero (Rs 19 lakh) and the Montero (Rs 32 lakh) sell a total of around 200 units per month. Both the sports utility vehicles are imported as completely built units.

I met with the manager the day before. It was a very brief one. He seemed to be very busy. He said that HM-Mitsubishi are not breaking up. There have only been some role switching.

Now HM logos wont be shown on any ads (print media usually carries the HM logo)

He also said that from now on all the new models will be released in India simultaneously as Indian market is now mature and an important one for them.

At present they are preparing for the launch of Outlander which he says will be here before Diwali. Pricing will be in competition to the CR-V obviously.

Also hinted at a new sedan (Lancer ex?????) in 2008.

He said Mitsubishi had been hearing too much complaints in Service and spares recently and realized that 1.8 lancer wasnt given much presece and 2.8 was positioned badly with lack of features. All this will be rectified.

I consider most of this as "bolvachan." Lets see if it really goes smooth.
