Guys,

One thing nobody has asked (i guess)

Do you think the lancer badge will fetch above 10L in India? Or, will they need to use another name (if it comes in)

LE and SFXI once sold at 10 and above. Also the 1.8 sold at 10 or above.

we are 32 on the petition now. need atleast 18 more to start promoting.

I am IN. Though I won't be able to afford this car in next two years, but I am a fan of Mitsubishi cars and would love to see them on Indian roads.

Sam and EL are totally right!
How much of a difference would there be between the Cedia and the Lancer X?
I know of 1 in all the above votes has a Cedia. What about the others?

Jokes apart - things need to be tigher. the cedia - good car that it might be is very low on the top of the mind recall. if you ask someone what is a good car in the 10L range - honda City comes first! Why? Lancer is as good- if not better than the city (IMHO).

First of all, most are not cedia owners but Lancer owners. For us the new lancer is certainly the best buy and miles ahead than the cedia.

How much of a difference?

1. For starters, How does a MIVEC engine Sound?

2. Front seat-mounted side-impact airbags are standard, as are side curtain airbags and a driver's knee airbag which will be a first for India. Anti-lock brakes are standard

3. Mitsubishi's FAST Key entry system (the keyfob can remain in your pocket or purse while unlocking the door and starting the vehicle).

4. 5-speed manual, CVT and Sportronic(with paddleshifters) option. We can probably get two if lancer enters direct competition with civic.

5. 16 to 18 inch wheels (expect 16inchers to make it to India) with different stabilizer bars and spring/shock damping rates, along with front brakes from the larger, heavier Outlander SUV. The new lancer also has a more stiff chassis.

6. The 2008 Lancer is a little shorter than the model it replaces, but has a longer wheelbase, wider track and greater overall width. The result, in combination with its stiffer chassis and European-tuned suspension, is a better handling vehicle with more interior room than the outgoing model.

7. HM-Mitsubishi can provide on more expensive models additional features such as an optional Sun and Sound package that combines a sunroof and 650-watt Rockford-Fosgate premium audio system (a la Montero) with a bluetooth cellphone interface and steering mounted controls.

A fully loaded lancer can be configured for 21K USD which is around 8.5 INR. With some strip-offs a price tag of 12K seems pretty reasonable.

for more information look at these links.

Mitshubishi itself is a troubled company correct me if i am worng, and having partner like HM will assure that we wont get the latest ones apart from some customized for indians(us).
You know what i mean to say by customized.
BTW i am always in for any latest offerings.

Whether the car makes it to India is at best a guess right now. But I can say one thing for sure...there will be a lot of us who would jump at the first oppurtunity to buy the car - simply because of the the fact that it is a true performance car & that too factory built (read more reliable).

Many of us here may not be able to afford the car today BUT the car is not going to land on our shores tommorow - or is it

There are going to be many people who have no interest today in a car such as the one we are discussing, but once they get to see it on the roads & hear nice things from owners - there are going to be many more takers.

Case in point - when the SKODA brand was coming to India - most of us related it to the pathetic Czech quality & thought it would be the LADA's big sister..but our acceptance of the car proves that the product has to be worthy of buyers - Octavia did what no other car could do in a long time. Put a premium deisel on the road lightyears ahead of what we were used to seeing here in India. The rest as they say is history..

That's my take on the subject

Cheers
