Webhosting.com seems to offer hosting services of their own, so I'm pretty sure they'd have good reviews

For those starting off on shared hosting, I cannot recommend pair Networks - World Class Web Hosting enough. Reasons : Not only their solid network and uptime, but also the high quality support. This may be especially important when you are a novice and don't know too much about the technicalities. Server work best left to experts.

As TSK suggested, you MUST check out reviews on webhostingtalk.com before finally placing the order. Great community with some truly valuable information.

Hi Friends,

I need some help in transferring my website RonakG.in | Live life to the fullest... to a different host. Currently it is hosted with Web Hosting India - SpeedHost™. I'm actually very happy with their support except slow loading times.

Here are my requirements -

1) Wordpress support
2) MX redirection as I use Google Apps for email
3) SSH access
4) Latest PHP support
5) Python support will be a plus

My budget is strictly below 3000 Rs/year.

What are my optionsfor launching a website for a company.

Will be a simple few pages. what will be the cost involved.

I hear there are some free web hosting sites around ( wix.com etc)

Don't go for free web hosting services as they suffer from 2 disadvantages
1. They publicize their own stuff more than your website by showing pop ups and logos of their own.
2. After you have spent hours getting a new website up and traffic is good, there is no guarantee that they can one find day bring down your site citing no genuine reasons.

In case you are launching a website for a company then just spend INR 499 for a domain name and INR 1700 p.a. for unlimited hosting space. There are good service providers like bigrock etc who are giving good hosting and support at reasonable prices.
Go daddy is also good but they charge a premium compared to other providers.

Feel free to PM me in case you have any doubts or issues right from website designing to hosting

I am currently hosting 5 websites on fatcow and paying $108 USD per year for the services since the last 3+ years. (1 WordPress, 2 Joomla and 2 Static html websites )

Does it make sense to shift all these websites to Amazon EC2? What will be my approximate cost with Amazon? I don't need email as it is already configured with Google Apps.

Default Internet business

Some Background :

I have been looking to start a online business for some time now. And have been reading online talking to people etc and I'd say I have a fare idea about the basics of getting a website going; but there is a lot more to launching a internet business that I cannot learn from 'net research'.

My Question is

Where can I find some solid advise? Someone ideally who has been part of a tech startup who can help with the tech side 100% and can contribute a little to the business side as well.

I need to know things like How can I utilize cloud computing (I know it will be needed) ? How much does it cost to have someone build maintain your website. Are there companies that it can be outsourced to. Which ones are good ? What do I need to know to make a comparison ? And 100 other questions that I have.

So my question really is where do I look for this adviser / co founder / IT guy

Avoid it , they do answer to tickets but those are most of generalized replies.

If you are looking at google aps best is to buy directly through google - they use godaddy and its a straight forward solution .

You can also try office 365 from microsoft for more professional setup as its based on exchange server

http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/bu...102997580.aspx

If you are running a small company and want to keep cheaper Google will be easier , you can also use many apps like " insightly CRM " more effectively

For cheap domain name, try Namecheap.com
Hosting would depend on the kind of website/business you intend to run. I personally never liked godaddy and prefer JustHost or Hostgator.

I am in IT Consulting Business, Purpose of this site is just information about company and its services. And can send us enquiry emails. At the most I may run blog or Forum on that.

You don't need google/microsoft services for this. Any basic host would do for the company website and blog. Check out the options I had mentioned before and choose the plan that suits you. Only if you decide to start a forum, you need to look for higher bandwidth and stuff.

Default Regarding domain name service providers in India

I have a blog that I primarily use for writing mobile, laptop and gadget reviews. Right now it is hosted on blogger for free.

Since I have started to get good number views on it I was thinking of having its own domain name (.com) so that I can be eligible for google adsense program.

Please suggest some good domain name service providers in india. I am aware of godaddy etc.

Any first hand experience or suggestions?

I bought the domain on squarebrothers.com but I host on hawkhost - trustworthy good guys (owners replied themselves till ~2 years back, now also quick techie response, no "pls wait 4 hours").

Using both for ~7 years and ~2-5 domains with no complaints.
