Not sure why such a beautiful thread just died like that 4 years ago. I hope the mods don't mind me reviving it.

Artist - Alphaville
Albums - Dreamscapes and CrazyShow

Yov'e got to listen to these to realize what true music is all about. Their music is divine and straightaway takes you to the 9th cloud. The lead singer Marian Gold's voice is one of the most gifted and holiest if there is any such term. Not sure why they weren't really much talked about.

I'm unsuccessfully trying to see where I can buy CrazyShow album. Only 2500 copies were produced and sold as special edition and only the luckiest have them. Online buys quote crazy prices. Do let me know if you find this majestic 6 CD album.

Cheers!

Great thread. Thanks for reviving it, JVH

Here is my contribution:
Journey - Best of Journey
Good old fashioned rock, with nice vocals and lyrics. Some of the songs are tailor made to listen to while driving.

I've been listening to a lot of blues-rock off late:

Artist: Cream

Albums: Fresh Cream, Wheels Of Fire, Disraeli Gears, Goodbye

Most popular songs: I Feel Free, Strange Brew, Tales Of Brave Ulysses, Dance The Night Away, White Room, Sunshine Of Your Love, World Of Pain, Crossroads, Toad.

Note: Superb driving songs. Great tempo, with classic rock overtones and raw sound. Very bluesy! Oh and by the way, for those who haven;t heard of Cream, the band is: Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker aaaaaaaannd.. Eric Clapton!

Rated: 5*

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Prefer something more modern..? Don't sweat!

Artist: Porcupine Tree

Albums: Stupid Dream, Lightbulb Sun, In Absentia, Deadwing.

Most Popular songs: Trains, Blackest Eyes, Russia On Ice, Arriving Somewhere But Not Here, Piano Lessons, Mellotron Scratch, Start Of Something Beautiful, Lazarus, Even Less, Hatesong, Sentimental, Normal, The Sound of Muzak..

Note: Porcupine Tree is what I'd like to call Pink Floyd's spiritual successors. They make very similar music albeit heavier, with a modern twist and experimental tunes. Superb lyrics, great guitar riffs and brilliant drumming. Love the bass incorporated in their songs as well.

Rated: 5*

Loved The Dark Knight Rises Album by Hans Zimmer.

I specifically use it while working out in the gym. It makes you really angry, perfect for storming through the weight training session!
