Road Accidents on New Year's eve - Team-BHP

Hi,

I am sure all would have read the tragic deaths in Mumbai and Bangalore which were front page in the TOI.

This has been a consistent trend in the last couple of years atleast!!

I think all of us need to take a New Year resolution of driving carefully till the next New Year and not till the New Year eve.

My sympathies to the families/ friends of the bereaved. May God give them strenght to bear this loss.

Yes I did read about them. In the article about the accident in mumbai, it is mentioned that they were doing 200kph!! Must be an exaggeration, if not, I wonder which car it was.

Its sad that people lose common sense and forget safety while having fun.

I read somewhere it was an Ikon. But the wreckage sure does not look like one though !!

Its was an Ikon. And also i heard they were drunk and also at very high speed in such a way that they were frightening others. All were teenagers too. Now none of their families will be having a new year. really bad

I don't know why people want to drive after being drunk.

It was an Ikon. Pictures in the newspapers are very clear, but, I'm sure it wasn't a 200km/h crash. Even then, this is just an unnecessary waste of life. Drunken driving or not, I fail to understand why people don't learn from mistakes committed by others in the past. Just imagine the trauma the fellows' families are going through. Worse still for the family of the worker who was killed for no fault of his.

I dont understand why mix partying and driving. Might as well get someone else to drive or sleep whereever you get drunk. :(

Really Sorrry for the families who lost their loved ones.

It was an Ikon and the speed of 200kmph is clearly not possible and over hyped.
Also, it is not known whether it was the Ikon driver's fault or not. The truck was parked and this being India, i am assuming it was with the lights off. Also, i doubt the truck was parked on the side like it ought to be.
We have only heard one side of the story.

It's well known that accidents are never investigated properly and hence keep happening and more and more people keep dying. This same Ikon accident's graphics on one of the news channels was all wrong.

First we were shown pictures of the mangled car and it was clear that the passenger side was where the car took the hit. The front was totally untouched. The channel then says, "See our graphics to see how the accident actually happened." They show a car zooming and hitting the parked dumper HEAD ON.

Innocent road users suffer because of these. Alchohol is bad and people should stop using it. That will solve lot of problems in the society.

Delhi also witnessed a ghastly accident on New Year's when a dumper hit the passenger side of swift killing the girl, allof 28 yrs travelling with her fiancee whom she was to marry on 28th Feb at the Lodi road junction.

That junction is termed by the traffic police as the killer junction..

Guess its more to do with being young and brash. I drove much faster and reckessly at 22 than I do today (at 29

). With the josh and adrenaline pumping there is little regard for ones own life or for others!!

Teenagers are too young to go through Adolescence

. My sympathies lie with the innocent worker who had to pay the ultimate price for no fault of his.
