but still its an ad and yeah there will be people who will go out and try it - all the best to them and may GOD be with them !!
I guess at the end of the day, this is all we can say. Lol

But Narain had a choice, he just chose the wrong one.

As he has been paid upfront to be the Speed brand ambassador and very few people with sponsor him at present, I do not think he has much of a choice in terms of what he can do or not do

Best to rename the topic - "is the ad copywriter really a responsible driver"?

Oh my god. I never understood that ad till now. I always wondered what the hell that ad meant. It s pretty crappy anyways. Ok... am going totally off topic here.

Anyways... Cant really blame narain for the ad.
Not many people are going to be influenced by the ad anyways..
They have already been influenced by movies like the fast and the furious. I dont think the sane ones left will be influenced by this.

Nice to see that lot of people here share the concern i have at that SPEED ad ....
I do not blame Narain for the ad but the ad makers and directors ... they have absolutely NO IDEA of what they were trying to portray .... any intelligent Indian will know that using SPEED will not make their cars go wild ....... At least they should cut all the offending shots and replace them with shots of Narain in Nissan SuperFund Series racing car .....

Cant completely blame Narain for the ad..
But since he is known to be the fastest driver in India and many look up to him, he could have atleast told the ad guys to make sure it doesnt have a negative impact on the masses.. Many basic stuff like using seat belts and like pointed out, a message in the begining saying, it shouldn't be immitated by u could have been included....
Dont really know how much of a change it would make, but it could have been the least he could do, indirectly promoting safety....
Ya, we even have to promote safety... (Hang over from Helmet thread)LOL.....

LOL, but Rudra would have made a much more sensible ad. And he would have used his own pimp'd up Optra for the video. Hehe

Ajmat I'm not feeling guilty for a moment.
But as you rightly mentioned "is the ad copywriter really a responsible driver?"

Anybody and everybody has a social reponsibilty. A must for advertising professionals because they're in the business of communication.

In this case the client is also equally responsible.

hey autopsyche,
its just an ad. go and relax man .
its not abt being cool.the topic is "Is Narain an .......".
my ans is a big NO.

it is not at all his fault.he has done wat the ad-makers have told him to.now tomorow if u see a movie in which the hero crashes cars on public streets, people like u are gonna make a fuss abt that too.

if narain doesnt drive like that ,in the ad .how will people get to knowabt Speed .
instead of admiring the superb car control that he has displayed ,u r criticizing him.

Narain is not wrong ,but u r wrong .thats it
