Laxman was replaced by Gilchrist, during the 1st IPL itself.

What is wrong with these Aussie coaches?
First, it was Greg Chappel, and now John Buchanan.....!

The news was the VVS might skip the IPL altogether, and choose to play in the English county instead.

Dada is a few months short of turning 37. And, Buchanan is not too happy with Ganguly’s level of fitness and is actually apprehensive over the former Indian captain’s chances of sustaining the rigours of a full-blown tournament in the T20 version.

I guess only performance counts in this form of game - no reputation or weight.

Clearly dejected, Sourav Ganguly, however attempted to put up a brave face and said he was not upset by Buchanan’s decision.

But Ganguly is busy picking cheerleaders for the Knight Riders.

They are just making way for these 'old' captains to be rested/dropped when they are no longer useful in the team.

IPL 2.0 starts from April 18th and SA General Elections are on April 22nd .
Guess, SA Govt is capable of handling both elections & IPL, while Indian Govt can't.

Another point is BCCI was enjoying income tax exemption for carrying out the "charitable activity" of promotion of sport in the country. Now that exemption may not be available on the income generated from IPL 2.0, as it is being held outside the country. Now, it may have to shell out close to 200 crores as taxes.

Looks like there was some specific terror threat for the matches, as mentioned in the report below.

Source: Yahoo News

IPL prime target of terror attack: US think tank

Lalit K Jha Washington, Mar 25 (PTI) The Indian Premier League (IPL), which has now been shifted to South Africa, was the prime target of a large scale terrorist strike by Islamic militants, on the lines of 26/11, targeting a host of foreign cricket players, a leading American think-tank said today. Games being played in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka were more on the terrorist hit list, it said.

"The Indian intelligence apparatus is thought to have warned the central government of a flood of specific threats against both Indian and foreign cricket players," said Stratfor. Based on the intelligence information it has from various sources, Stratfor in its latest analysis said it received indications early on from Indian security sources that the IPL tournament was a prime target for another large-scale Islamist militant operation following the November 2008 Mumbai attacks.

"Warnings of specific threats against the players came from the governments of the states hosting matches, including Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. "Given that these two states respectively are home to the information technology hubs of Hyderabad and Bangalore both of which have a heavy foreign presence and are where multinational corporations doing business in India are concentrated, these states are at a particularly high risk of attack," it said.

To be honest, every big event in India is under threat from terrorist attacks. Three of our neighbouring countries are terror stricken - Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Internal problem groups like the naxals just add to that. It's just something that we have to live with and guard against.

I don't agree to that.
Sourav is one the Best inspirational captains around, and for his batting, he still one cracker of a batsmen, hope you saw his performance in last year's IPL.

He is a very straight forward guy with a no-nonsense attitute, that is why he has so many enemies around.

And if he is not in KKR team, KKR will be first from bottom in IPL2.

To Quote-
Ganguly not fully convinced by Buchanan theory
Cricinfo - Ganguly not fully convinced by Buchanan theory

SA coach's opinion-
Cricinfo - 'It has to be one leader always' - Arthur

IMO this is a crap idea as Captain should always be one person.

Imagine a match between Knight riders and Daredevils where Sehwag is blasting knight riders everyone and Bowlers are thinking - Ok now which captain should i consult - Choices are Gayle, mccullum, hussey, ganguly, ahh so confusing so let me do inki pinki ponki and decide

It will be one. All this just a drama to get the NPA out of action.
Look at the toned down protest: 'Go back Buchanan', shout protesting Kolkatans. If it wasn't for this dram, it would have been nasty.

You cannot blame Buchanan for this. Selecting cheerleaders is a far tougher job than playing on the field.

Dada might find it difficult to be "up and running" after all the exertions on the TV show...
