rahul sharma is a very common name but the only worry is how did they get your number, something is definitely not right.

Possibly wrong data with the bank, or the bank was given wrong information by another Rahul Sharma. You should have played along a bit more to try get more information about the reason for the call.

..but to claim it, you would need to sign up for a new Citibank lifetime free platinum credit card.

"On hehalf of citibank"

This means it was a collection agent employed by Citibank.

Someone with your name must have defaulted on a card payment. So they must be trying to trace the chap.

Lucky for you your name is quite common, so they must be trying many people.

My name is not, and one chap called, and insisted i had some card and was not paying. He started threatening to send a collection agent. I told him to do so, with a photo of they guy they were looking for so that they can be sure its not me. He hung up after that.

I was also wondering about that.....now you know

hey, Rahulkool, if you remember the last 4 digits that she mentioned, you can check with Citibank customer service. I think it is just some mistake, and not to worry too much on this.

I remember I got 2 calls (ICICI Bank DSA)

Caller : Hello
Me (Senthil): Hello
Caller : Mr. Srinivasan?
Me (annoyed) : No, wrong number
Caller (persisting) : Mr. Srinivasan, sir
Me (even more annoyed) : No (I cut the line)

I dont know how they got my number, but with the wrong name. Or maybe they just got the number from someplace (without the name), and are trying to blindly promote their product ???

it looks like a mistaken identity because she has mentioned the card number also to you. only that you don't have an a/c with them. simply ignore. or call citi and check with them

iam getting emails from @hdfcbank.com asking me to update. only thing is i do not have HDFC a/c. I simply delete them.

Sorry for the mix-up there, guys. The quoted part was originally posted by Rahul. Mix-up on my part happened during a copy-paste when I was editing that message.

Not able to correct it now since the 20 min's has elapsed.
