I was surprised why nobody mentioned 'Toddy' (kallu in malayalam) so far ! tsk you have a company here

My favourites: (sadly not all of it easily availble)

1. Normal or Sweet toddy (what you get in kerala, Normal = from palm, Sweet = from Coconut tree) with a defenite combination of Karimeen deep fry/ beef fry/ chicken fry, believe me its the 7th heaven !!

2. Malibu (white rum with coconut flavour) with tender coconut water. (Best combination = thinnest salted potato wafers). Affordable only from airport duty-frees, exclusive shops it costs Rs.1200/- a bottle. It goes down like a sweet light juice, but kicks your brain in lightning speed. Usually no hangover.

3. Whiskeys (any brand) with 1 spoon of blue carakao (its a common mix, I try with other drinks too), ice cubes and any colourless drink (sprite, 7up etc.)

4. Vodka/Gin (smirnoff or similar); combinations are never-ending. NDTV good times has a programe called 'In high Spirits'. Lot of ideas are copied for cocktails.

5. KF strong.

PS: I am not a regular drinker though I stock at home.

AFAIK Scotch cannot be made anywhere except Scotland just like how Champagne cannot be made outside Champagne and Cognac cannot be made outside Cognac. Even if the method is the exact same it should classify as a whisky and not a scotch.

Correct you are. Vats of Scotch matured in Scotland are imported into India and then poured into glass bottles Manufactured here.
This makes scotch affordable in India.

It's sour. And sweet in the early part of the day. And has an alcohol content that ramps up in direct relation to the progress of the sun.
And goes well with 'sharp' foods like pickle and fried fish.
To cover all the senses, I should have begun with its look: it resembles watered-down milk.

Highly-recommended but around Bangalore you've got to watch out for adulterated toddy.

agreed.. malibu goes like real smooth.. and hits real fast... and yes, its a bargain at duty free shops, i recently got it from doha duty free for around 60 qatari riyals (1QR=11.6Rs.)

if you like malibu, you'll also like the taste of urraq (not sure about the spelling!) its a local brew available at goa.. fenny is a sequel to urraq...

cheers..!

Canada Dry.

I simply loved this one. but once schwepps (i bet i haven't spelled that correctly) closed shop in India I haven't been able to get this one again.

It was a long long time back but I still remember the taste.
God knows what made it different from other clear drinks (sprite, 7up)
but it was really kewl.

A B52 is a layered shooter which has Kahlua, Baileys and Grand Marnier. Making a layered shooter is a pain but it does look pretty nice.

Kahlua - Coffee flavor
Baileys - Chocolate/Creamy flavor
Grand Marnier - Orange flavor

A layered shooter is a shooter where the contents are added as per their density in such a way that they don't mix with each other.

A shot contains only only ingredient whereas a shooter contains more than one.

Yupp, sometimes nothing hits the spot like a nice glass of water. One thing Iv noticed is that the taste of water can really change depending on how you store it. Iv noticed that water stored in a closed plastic bottle doesn't taste as good as water freshly poured into a glass glass. I don't know if its just in my head but I really think that it makes a difference.
