AFAIK, BD is owned by Vijaya Mallya and when it is bottled in India, isn't it indian whisky? That does not hold true for other scotches that are bottled in scotland or elsewhere.

Long Island Iced Tea, I'd like it strong thank you.
Absolut Kurant would do just fine too.

Like congac and few whiskeys, but too expensive to develop a taste for

Some days, only old monk and coke would do !!

All this talk makes me thirsty. And no drinks on desi flights, isn't helping matters one bit. Hate my job :(

Dear hrag,

Scotch is any whisky distilled in Scotland. Teacher's is dirtilled in Scotland, and the Vats are brought to India and then bottled, but it still remains Scotch. Same with 100 Pipers, Black and White and many others.

IMFL, stands for any Whisky, Gin, Rum, Vodka, Beer (every drink except country liquor) distilled in India.

BD vats are imported in India by UB, and then bottled here. This doesn't make it Indian, it still remains Scotch :-)

ntomer, thanks for that info - I was under the wrong impression about IMFL. You certainly know your drink.

Wow, this thread grew into 5 pages so fast.

When it comes to liquid intoxicants, I am not partial at all - love all, hate none - any whiskey, brandy, gin, vodka, beer, toddy, arrack, fenny, local, IMFL, FL, Scotch, etc, etc is good enough.

Happened to try an Turkish liquor 'Arak' recently and man it sure goes down burning.

Favorite Alcoholic Drink: Vodka

Mixed with: Diet Coke, Red Bull, Cranberry Juice, Kiwi Juice, Fresh Lime Soda, Coconut Water and sometimes straight.

Favorite Vodka Brands: Grey Goose, Absolut, Smirnoff, 42 Below.

Favorite Variants: Absolut Raspberry, Absolut Kurrant, Smirnoff Copper Pot Still, Grey Goose Regular, 42 Below Passionfruit/ Kiwifruit

Not tolerant to liquors masqueraded as vodka like: White Mischief, Romanov, Vladivar, and some colorless brew that an ignorant esteem_lover once choiceless-ly gifted me in Chennai. cheers:

If not Vodka, then Bacardi, Captain Morgan etc. also works out.

Beer is also good anytime/ anyplace (which earlier used to be a lot when in the driver's seat). Amongst the favorites are Fosters, Tsing Tao, Tiger (hurrah its being launched in India on Sunday!), Carlsberg Ice.

A friend of mine also gets down some Chinese rice vodka down occassionally. It is so mind numbingly good - not funny, if only I could read the stupid Chinese label.

All this talk is making me seriously thirsty.

That was some sweet stuff man, I fondly remember that one sip I got of it. Too bad I dont have a German "passenger" connection getting that down for me.

Spirits
Whiskey is an all time favourite and normally the only spirit I drink. No brand preferences, but I prefer Irish over everything else, 12yr+ Scotch if that is not available and the occassional Malt when I'm in the mood for it.

Tequila is sometimes used to round a drinking session off with 2/3 shots in the end. Otherwise its usage is mostly culinary - I use it to flambe' desserts and stir frys as it burns really well.

No other spirits unless a flu requires a hot brandy.

Mixed Spirits

1. All time college favourite that is RumsUp, of which the original has to be Old Cask Rum + Thumsup. None of the other variants (Old Monk + Coke, et al) come close to it. Pepsi is NOT an option in RumsUp.

2. White Rum + Tender Coconut Water. A bit difficult to get because TC Water is not readily available, but where available this is a heavenly combination.

Fermented Beverages

Like any self-respecting Mallu (and a lot of converts like TSK), Kallu a.k.a Toddy is an all time favourite that you dont need an excuse to drink.

Beer is another such beverage that you dont really call a 'drink'. My preferences are KingFisher & Heineken, and the occassional Corona/San Miguel.
