Default Broadband

As far as I know, you will only get upto 2 MBPS and that too limited download. The best plan if you want unlimited download would be the 512 KBPS unlimited Airtel plan. BSNL provides good speed but if you have an issue then be ready to .

2mbps is available from BSNL/VSNL/Airtel. Cost would be around 1 - 2k per month depending on data transfer.

Its better to go with modem supplied by ISP (modem is available on rental)

Checked out city center and 'Mocca''...Whats the street name called? Saw a cafe picolo sth there ...seems to be happening..might pay a visit there. Are there any places to play snooker/pool? am staying in the 'chetpat' area.

That is khader nawaz khan road.

Pool and Bowling center is available just opposite to the khadernawaz khan road. Its on the building where the Kurunji restuarant is .

There are shops inside Spencer's Plaza where you can find these.

Also i vaguely remember seeing a shop on the Chamier's road selling paintings and few other unique stuff. Its next the Xone showroom right after the ICICI Bank.

Secondly Is it alright If I brought a hunting knife or “VeecharuVaal” (If you guys understand tamil or rather known as a very long sickle i assume) in my luggage through the customs in Chennai airport? Any issues? Permits etc?? bribery …haha??

And where can I find good hunting knives here anyway??

I guess you might be able to get a Aruvaal from any hardware store (not sure if they sell veecharuvaal though). AFAIK getting it cleared in the luggage screening will be an issue and please don't attempt bribing or any sort of stuff which'll only create more trouble for you.
