Default When will this happen in India?

A man was walking his bicycle on the Don Valley Parkway in Toronto, Canada at 2pm in the afternoon. A car hits him and he goes through the windshield and ends up with a broken leg.

Quote:
Police said the cyclist will likely be charged.

Thumbs down

In India, the rule is very clear, The BIGGER (could also mean expensive) vehicle is always at fault.

Especially with pedestrians / bicycles, By default the motor vehicles are at fault.

We can always fight out the case. The fact that we don't, and even if we, we rarely are succesful, points to a malaise within the judiciary.

In India, we can just dream of this. With majority of people bent on breaking rules including pedestrains, this appears a distant dream.

The CTV headline for this accident reads "Accident causes traffic headaches on DVP".

If this happened in India, the headlines would read, "Speeding car rams into / mows down cyclist."

Pedestrians, should be charged in india too, they are causative agents of a number of mishaps.
There is no message to educate the pedestrians in road safety in india.
A bigger carwala is always blamed , whatever the cause.

when 90% of india's population has cars and even groceries are done on cars by a common man.

seriously, we are comparing two totally different economies, cultures and overall situations.

if 90% of population does not have access to 4 wheelers, can we keep them off the roads to let remaining 10% drive peacefully on it?

Disclaimer: just wanted to bring in a different perspective.

guys, not to support india in anyway as such..... but this sort of thing doesn't always happen in the US. pedestrians and cyclists are also in many occasions given the benefit of the doubt.
