Kerala govt to ban ICE in car ? For real ?

A few weeks ago, when in Kerala, I was told by some friends that there was a news item in the papers as per which, the Kerala Govt was planning to ban music systems in cars, due to being distractive to the driver, leading to accidents. Or some reason on these lines.

Is this for real ? I mean, is having ICE in the car against the MV Act ?

And how are they planning to implement this ? Stop cars and check for ICE and remove them ? Or heavy fines for having ICE in cars ? What about cars registered outside Kerala and which are temporarily in Kerala ?

Any Mallu tbhp-ians have more info on this ?

hope its not true because I dont think there is anything in the Motor Vehicles Act to support such a move and a car is an item of personal property.
I dont think they can implement such a draconian rule since we are after all a democracy not a dictatorship or totalitarian state..

I do remember that 6 years back, if i am able to recall correctly, bangalore govt then had proposed a similar ban which did not come into effect.

Whaaaaaat? I had to read this again to make sure I read it right the first time. I hope this is just a rumour.

The problem is, I wouldn't put it past the current govt. To do something downright stupid and puerile (for lack of a better word) as this.

A few years back, there was a similar rumour. But then it turned out that the ICE ban was for city-plying buses only (not even for taxis). I don't think anything came of it anyway.

Now we all need to pray hard that no stupid loud-ICE-playing private car-drivers are involved in any accidents anytime soon.

And I just broke my bank and ordered a speaker upgrade last week :(
