Finally, after scores of boring and disgusting reality shows, i can finally look forward to something i can relate to.

Just love the way this show has been organised. The rules are just how i'd have liked it.

Sylvester Stallon and Sugar Ray Leonard make the perfect hosts for this show.

For those who haven't seen any of the episodes, here's a brief summary.

The idea is to get together 16 of the best middle weight boxers from the east and the west coasts of America. Make 2 teams, 8 from the East and 8 from the west.

But, they're not ready to fight yet, first the 2 teams are subjected to physical and mental tests where the winning team not only gets to choose, who among them gets to fight that night but also get to choose his opponenet, from the other team.

Then the 2 teams are called into the training hall where the winning team has to give their verdict as to who fights who.

Fight Night :

The 2 selected fighters are given the chance to prove their worth in a 5 round battle which can be won by a KO or a unanimous decision.

The audience include the families of the concerned fighters, celebrity guests and everyone that's watching.

The winner gets selected in the final 8, while the loser is sent back home.

The winner and his team get to celebrate their victory the next day, which is sponsored by the organisers.

So far, the West side has been ripping the East side apart, by winning all the tests and the fights held so far. The East side are down to 5 fighters while the West side have retained all 8.

I think it's shown at 9 pm every Monday, on AXN.

ya a very good show, seen a bit of it. They show all the emotions a boxer goes thru after the match.

real awesome - the torture , the emotions ,the fights , the mr stallone , the mr leonard ...

this show has it all

im making sure not to miss a single episode !

Hey, that rocky thread made me remember...I missed the last few episodes of this. who finally won?? Was it a good matchup? Any surprises???

Well the final fight at Ceaser's palace was between :

Sergio Mora

and

Peter Manfredo Jr

The match lasted for all the 7 rounds and the judges gave Sergio the win.

Only surprise was that Manfredo who had lost his first match against Alfonso Gomez was brought back as one off the Cotenders had to back out due to "Chicken Pox". Nobody really expected him to come back and make his way to the finals.

Sergio was impressive rght from day one. I don't think anybody was surprised with his victory.

I hope they start a new season of "The Contender". Probably the best reality show i've seen so far.

it was wicked !!!

i was a Sergio fan !! the guy had luck on his side too ...
i liked jesse brinkley too .. i almost thought he lost the match to Bosante ..
what a knock out eh ?

i loved the series man ...

Ishe and Bosante fight was too good !
