I have limited birding knowledge, but it looks like the Indian Roller.

Thanks. After your comment, I checked with St. Google and he confirms it is Indian Roller. We can see many of them in our area at the foothills of Pothigai Mountains.

Lovely shot that. Loved the composition and colours. I would love to have had a bit more DOF though.

Lovely colours.

I am liking my Note 4 camera. Better in low light and in dynamic range than the Note 2's.The Official non-auto Image thread-1418910523454.jpg

Wow, that's clear! My Note 3's pictures got grainy in low light conditions.

Note 4 has same sensor as Nikon 7100 (smaller in size, but from the same family within Sony EXMOR)

Old photo. Taken with the D90 in Masinagudi. Spontaneous shot.

And yes, if I had planned this I would have had a different background e.g. not had that distracting and slightly tilted wall at the back

But one can't get kids - some kids - to pose on demand.

Light wasn't bad but not so clear air at noon when this picture was taken. Cropped for composition !

ISO 200 + 1/250s + f/6.3 @500mm

Not so a clean BG with branches et all but then that is what its usual habitat is.

A portrait of our 8 month old Son - Anay...

I tried portrait photography after many days, though I hate taking portraits and expressions of people, this photo made me think twice about getting the 35mm f1.8G and doing some portrait photography! Maybe I will get one soon.

EDIT: And also get an external flash as well. The shortcomings of the inbuilt flash become glaringly obvious in this photograph.
