Anyone here has a polarizer filter? Just wanted to understand the funda of it. When i was gazing on a photograph of a bright white cloud formation, my friend told me it is taken using a polarizer filter on lens.

Here's my contribution for the day.

Awesome composition! A wider shot would have looked far better though.

hand held in super macro mode. picture is shaking because i was trying to follow the bug, that too in late evening. apparently they don't glow that often when they are sitting idle. If it had not started raining, I would have tried some more shots.

According to me, its just another crown from your clicks. Very good.

Here is one from my bounce-flash experiments. Cost Rs.900 (t-shirts and a box of Kitkat). First 2 monkeys belong to me, other two to my only sister.

Thank you brother. Well to be frank, I dream about SLR everyday. Infact, i won't be able to get a SLR in my hands in the near future. Currently I'm jobless(Ya, I am a +1 student)

Needless to say, your composition and those kids really looks awesome. Say my "Hiiii" to those kids

But I like it with the tree, you might feel different. I generally like multiple layers (not photoshop layers) in my composition. I take my compositions very seriously, nothing gets in there by accident unless it is totally unavoidable.
I liked the one without the trees. Those coconut trees standing on the far end of the frame looks beautiful.

Thanks klub, I am still wondering how a P&S can bring this kind of clarity to the fly ! Really good work.

I feel the leaves make a nice framing effect here.

@jacs: A polarizer is nothing but a filter which filters a beam of light with mixed polarization into a light beam with polarization in one particular angle.

Since most of the reflected light is polarized into one well defined angle, we can cut the reflected light using a polarizer. This is one use of a polarizer. Sky can be made to look a bit more darker and deep blue using a CPL, since it can cut the polarized component of light thereby increasing the contrast between the deep blue sky and clouds.

Check out this wiki page to understand more about this, and also circular polarizer.

Thanks Hw, I took only around 15-20 pics because I had very little time to walk around the city center before I headed for the airport. Will post a couple more from home.

Thnx friend, this dragon fly of course is a neat output from the W-35. I still love the earlier versions of cybershots. Here's another one for the day. Was shot from the Athirappally-Vaazhachaal stretch.
