Default Speed Radar Detector on your Phone

This is interesting: apparantly there is some kind of speed radar indicator on Nokia phones.

You set it up by going to Settings-Security-Closed User Group. There you set the Closed User Group(CUG) number as '0000'.

Go back to phone settings and make sure that 'Cell Info Display' is turned to 'Off'.

You should see a '0000' indication and a radar device indication on your screen. I'm not sure if this works with all types of radars, but when you do reach the vicinity of a speed radar the phone gives you a default SMS beep.

Cheers

PS: I've also been told that this is probably a hoax. I'll test it out in Dxb and let you know if the damn thing beeps near a radar.

I'm not sure if the CUG setting is 4 zeros or 5 zeros. I dont use a Nokia so I tried it on a friend's Nokia (forget which model) and sure enough I got a radar indicator on the screen. I think it was 33 series phone.

I'm waiting to get back to DXB, where there are plenty of cameras (one every 5 kms?) that I can try with my wife's Nokia. Will keep you posted.

A search on the internet yielded two results - one set of people who claim that it works pretty well with the older Nokia phones till the cops got wind of it and pushed Nokia to disable the cheat code. The other set think its a hoax and havent managed to get it to work yet. The second set seem to be using the later models.

Cheers

It's hoax guys - If you had a radar detector on the phone , noone would buy those $300 Valentine One's ..... And not to mention I can just see IAF Su-30MKI's with a Nokia in the nose cone...

SImply not possible - The phone and Radar work on totally different frequencies IIRC
