Could you guys please help me understand about Atos in following fields: 1. Work culture and work quality 2. Onsite opportunity for C,C++ resource 3. Long term/Short term onsite 4. I have been offered - System analyst role. I have 4 years exp. in C++. Is it ok?

| Team-BHP Support ![]() | Go for IBM - no brainer, you get a brand on your resume. Decent culture etc. Atos - you might have more responsibility but it all depends on how well the company is managed and whether a clear business strategy is in place. Also small companies work on unrealistic shoestring budgets especially if you have to fend for yourself overseas. With the oncoming recession, I would think twice unless you are going to gain major skills or work on something that excites you

| Senior - BHPian | If i were given the option, i would have no second thoughts but to go for IBM. The brand name speaks for itself and will look great on any CV

| AO seems to be Europe based. So if onsite=USA for you, then IBM will be a better choice. I prefer companies that are just starting. You do get some early-bird advantages. Unless of course the company wants to hire 10000 people in next 2 weeks (like accenture) If working abroad is your main objective, it is better to go thru consultants/bodyshops than thru IBMs. |

| I work at IBM and can vouch for the fantastic work culture in the organization. However, this is my first job so can't compare it to anything.

| BHPian | Ok guys let me be more specific: I would like to go onsite. Let it be Europe or US. Any safe country will do ![]() 1. Atos: They said we have onsite opportunity but can not guarantee that you will be put in such project. Work will be in C/C++. Which domain that can not be shared 2. IBM ISL: Total offshore job. Pay is good than Atos. Work is in C and is good. I have heard horror stories about ISL that they even put you in testing. Just wanted to know more about Atos as I do not have any direct contacts there. Its a french company and has huge presence in Europe. Your comments are most welcome.

| Neo, have you thought about directly going onsite thru some consultant/bodyshop route. If you are 'good', this is probably the shortest route. If you have a bro/buddy there, it will be much more easier. Trying go onside thru IBMs and the like is something I would totally avoid. |

| BHPian | I did not try that just because of initial investment in visa n all. Also once I return I would be having job with the company that sends me onsite. So more or less want to be secured in all aspects. I wonder we do not have any Atos emp on board. I heard good things about Atos but never from a direct friend. IBM does not have any onsite as I would be joining their products division.

| I am from Mumbai and Atos has a BIG brand name here. They are one of the top companies and getting that brand on the resume means a lot here. In fact Atos is doing better than most of the biggies in terms of growth. I think they were one of the the official sponsors of the Beijing Olympics (they setup the IT for the Olympics - everything). |

| Atos Origin is a former Philips group company and is known for great work culture. Check Atos Origin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia So it depends whether you want a big brand (and being one among thousands there) or a medium sized brand (and being one among hundreds) ![]() |

| BHPian | Guys, one update: I have joined Atos Origin from this Monday. Took this dsecision because of onsite opportunity. Future looks good here as far as onsitre is concerned. My first love is a product based company as I worked on a product in my previous company for 3+ years. Work is any day good in product based company. Will surely get back to IBM ISL/any full fledged product company once I am done with onsite ![]()
