Well, I live in a rural area. From my point of view, Karnataka government is as corrupt as they say.

ramie2400: Corruption always refers to Government since they are the absolute monopoly.

I don't think private sector is free from corruption. Basically in any large organization there will be examples of using power for personal gains.

Bulk hiring in large IT/ITes is one such example.

In case of private sector, you can always walk away, go to their competitors. You can even complain to their superiors and get them fired. No such options exists while dealing with government.

If any of you have dealt with the Bangalore police or driven on the Bangalore paddy fields (supposedly called roads), you will know why Karnataka is up there.

I can just imagine the plight of the poor people when dealing with the Governement and administration.

TV9 News captures it very accurately on their Sunday evening program.

Yes, its not as bad as Govt sector but very much prevalent. And as a consumer you might go to a competitor but as a supplier / vendor you might not.

From what I have seen and heard the people of Kerala are very vigilant and vociferous. Any instance of corruption is quickly squashed and this leaves very little room for politicians and officers to take the public for a ride.

Bihar and UP are definitely on the correct end of the scale having witnessed many instances first hand.
