I had my yesterday's Lunch at Calcutta Cabin (SILVERWOOD+2) and ordered 3 NV Thali's.

Great food as usual, but the veg curry disappointed me.

Total Damages-Rs 540.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had my today's lunch at T20 restaurant @ Srinagar colony opp Indian bank.(SILVERWOOD+1)

1,Boneless chicken Biriyani--Ok taste.

2,Chicken biriyani regular-It had one life size chicken in it,for a minute i thought it would jump from my plate and run.(luckily, it didn't)-Average stuff.

Total Damages-Rs 310.

Will avoid this restaurant, service was pathetic.

This Restaurant was just a takeaway few months back

OT.

Sanjeev kapoor would be soon launching a 24x7 Food Lifestyle Channel called 'FOOD FOOD'.

Lets see what it has to offer.

It certainly offered something which deterred me from visiting this joint.

Exorbitant prices.

Even the food was average.

Yellow Chilli is the most overrated ( actually there is almost nil positive feedback for them on the web) restuarant in town. Right said, exorbitant pricing and below average food.

Last night, got take-away from Papaji Ka Dhaba

Tandoori Chicken (Full) : Rs.190
Hariyali Kebab : Rs.140
Chicken Tikka Masala : Rs.150
Meat Biryani (2 No's) : Rs.240

TC was burnt out and absolutely horrible
HK was very good
Chicken Tikka Masala which is favorite of wifey was disapproved by her
I am a big fan of their Biryani. Different and Delicious

Last night went for dinner at "Harry's Diner" at Rd.1 Banjara Hills

Its a typical US style diner with red couches and sports memorablia all over this small place situated next to Chinese Pavilion

We ordered the following :-

1. Tomato Basil Soup : European in taste and excellent
2. Garlic Bread : Excellent
3. Grilled Eggplant : Good if you have a taste for it
4. Peri Peri Chicken Wings : Bland and not quite spicy as i thought. Just about average
5. Italian Veggie Salad : Excellent
6. Veggie Pasta in Basil Sauce : This was the highlight. The best pasta that i ever tasted in Hyderabad
7. Mocktails ( Pina Colada and Cranberry with Lime juice) : Rs.100 each

Total Bill : Rs.~1100
We paid : Rs.600 due to deal that I availed from Snapdeal

Great place for some VFM Italian style cuisine.

Mirchi Bhajji

I am having some guests coming over from The States and they have expressed a desire to eat the world famous Hyderabad ki Mirchi Bhajji.

I am thinking of arranging take away from whichever is the suggested place so that the guests can enjoy eating in the comforts of own home.

My question is that will it taste as good if it is parcelled and brought home or it tastes good only if it is had fresh of the flame in which case I will need to take them to the outlet (ambience, cleanliness and lady friendly place becomes a criterion in such a situation)?

Can anyone give me pointers to which outlet in Hyderabad/Secunderabad serves the best To-Die-For Mirchi Bhajji?

Thanks in advance.

Hyderabadi Biryani

A few friends (around 10-15) want to meet up and chill at my home over some typical Hyderabadi dinner which would be Dalcha, Sheermal, Mutton Biryani, Salan, Dahi Chatni, Roomali Roti, Bagare Baingan and Double Ka Meetha. They do not want to go for the expensive "Hyderabad House" type of catered food. Any suggestions to a smaller type of caterer who can deliver the food and is reasonable in price.

Thanks in advance.

What a coincidence. Last night, we made mirchi's at home. It even beats Gokul Chat.

Btw, Gokul Chat in Koti serves the best Mirchi Bajji in town. Well, its always best to enjoy it hot and right there and then

You can try heating it up in oven at home. But, definetly the taste wont be same.

IMHO, For such a small number catering does not make sense. I recommend that you get biryani from 2-3 different and authentic outlets so your friends can enjoy the different taste of Hyderabadi Dum Biryani. Trick is to get the biryani at right time. 12:30pm if its lunch or 7/730pm if its dinner. At those times, it would be fresh out of the pot

I recommend the following outlets where you can pick up the Biryanis and maybe other accompaniements as well.

1. Four Seasons
2. Sarvi
3. Point Pleasant ( Heard a lot of praises I havent tried it myself though)

Is this the one on Road Number 10, Banjara Hills.
I live quite close to this place, but yet to test it out.

Since you recommend, it gets right to the top of my next biryani trip.

I've tried this place... not only the biriyani, you should check their whole menu. They have a great variety and the quality is good too

Mirchi bhajji is best when freshly prepared, and preferably from a roadside bandi. All of the fancy outlets make bhajjis that are too sanitized and tasteless.

You can pack it and get it home but if you wait too long the crispiness is gone, not to mention it's generally bad for your tummy if you eat it cold.

Also, it's very easy to make extremely tasty mirchi bhajjis at home.

Four Seasons' biryani is pretty bland and tasteless. That might suit US tastes, though. By the way, Hyderabad House isn't very expensive. You get a lot of quantity for what you pay. The quality is very random, though, even from the same outlet.

Regards,
spadix

Hopefully, he gives 25 % so that I can visit him every month in such a case.
