Default Prestige Shanti Niketan building collapsed

Today evening, when I was returning from office, found a huge crowd infront of Prestige Shanti Niketan whitefield. Upon nearing its front gate, could see that one portion of the building had collapsed. Now, I couldnt find any news on that in TV . Does anyone has more info on this ?

Heard about it from a colleague. It was covered on TV9 it seems. Saw it briefly while driving back from work. It seems several people (i guess workmen on the site) died ?

Shantiniketan is a residential apartment complex. It's still under construction stage.

Supposed to be one of the largest complexes by Prestige.

Prestige Shantiniketan Township, Residential Real Estate and Commercial in Bangalore.

The recent and still-ongoing rains must have contributed somehow.

vid, it has both a residential and commercial complex - huge complex. The buildings in the front flanking Whitefield road are commercial ones under construction. Though, this building which has collapsed is some distance inside (only the superstructure was done - floors, columns, beams etc, the walls were still to be finished), so not very sure if its was part of the residential block or commercial block.
Pretty sad!

Prestige Group chairman Irfan Razack said there were no casualties, nor was any worker injured. IJM, a Malaysian infrastructure company, were the contractors for the project. Asked about the cause of the crash, he said: "We believe a concrete slab that was being laid fell, and that then had a cascading effect. While I don't think there's any structural problem, we will evaluate all possibilities that could have led to this."
Man, its really scarey.

I think the TV9 guys were paid well to not raise the issue much. Y'day they only briefly covered it and never disclosed the name of he builder as prestige.
