Smile Make a difference this Diwali

!!Wish you and your family a very Happy and Joyful Diwali!!

In addition to having sweets , bursting crackers. Please do this for this Diwali and make a difference.

It will also make you much content and happier deep inside.

1.Give a bonus to your house Maid / Driver
With today's inflation consider a bonus of at least 2,000/-

2.Give them a day off on one of the festive holidays.

3.Give them a box of assorted sweets.
(Its perfectly fine to recycle the sweet box that you got from office, In case your family members are not too fond of sweets.
V.Important point - I am referring to this years sweet/dry fruit box, Not last years )

Nice thoughts, but somethings are not possible like Rs. 2000/- bonus. We dont have driver, but mostly I do the duty of driver. Will push dad for more pocketmoney. We might give more to maid provided she manages to work in better quality. We have given Rs. 1500/-.

But the biggest impact we could make here is by not bursting the crackers. I used to buy more than 300 kingkong loud noise making crackers, 250 on the day of Diwali, but I noticed the pollution. On the night of diwali I cannot open windows, that is the amount of pollution. We must make our mark here.
Rahter give the money allocated to crackers to maid and driver. This makes more sense to me.

Meanwhile, I will now be pushing my parents for 2000 bucks.

Well, the bonus is given anyways, but the biggest impact would be not to burst crackers, as said by aaggoswami. Its nothing but money going up in smoke, and also I have a dog at home, whose life is made hell by these crackers and besides, we are ruining our own environment.

Nice thoughts Fillmore. Most of them are standard fare in Mumbai:

Generally, a bonus equivalent to one months salary is given to them for Diwali.

Given 3 days off!

Well, an assorted chocolate box but still close.

Mum says that charity begins at home. That thought has been well ingrained in me & my siblings. We do what we can to keep the staff happy.

Ah. Nice one.

1) No maid/driver. So there. But bakshish given to all watchmen/postmen/milkmen/BMC men. Should suffice, methinks.

2) Err....post 1?

3) Yes. Sweets have been distributed.

I haven't burst crackers since quite a few years now.....burning rubber chalega?

1. ETC cried & fought with her F-I-L and made him buy crackers for her. Crackers above 64decibels are banned in Kolkata. i was thinking where to hide the box of crackers??

2. No drivers - bonus/sari were given before Durga Puja.

3. we will be glad to handout the sweets - dad is diabetic and the sweets vanish into thin air every morning.
