All my dentists have told me how important it is that they remove every last scrap of a tooth, which can be difficult for them as my teeth tend to break into bits. One dentist, as well as "re-assembling" the removed tooth, even took an x-ray to be certain.

Dentists... Why is it so important? Can a tiny piece of tooth keep causing infection?

My last extraction came out nicely in two pieces. It was being removed because the root had broken in two already and could no longer support a crown.

Hi Sanjay
It would be useful to know your age and if you have had any injuries. The pain in your knee especially while climbing maybe due to a cartilage problem behind your knee cap. The generalised joint ache especially in the mornings may be due to deficiency of calcium / vitamin D levels in your blood. Of course there are a few other possible causes too. It's best to consult an ortho doc closer to you and he may recommend some blood tests and x Ray of your knee to check these out. Exercises are always good to strengthen the muscles around the knee and that can control things to some extent. Sorry can't comment on ayurvedic advice . Hope this helps.

I have a question.
My wife has a small slight bulging area just below the chin. It is like the picture here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bu...Munich_333.jpg

The issue is that she does not feel any thing on that part of the skin.

What could be the reason?

Too much to explain.

Rather, read this:

Thanks a lot for reply.
Sorry I forgot to mention my age is 43 and I am bit slim.
And I did not have injury, but yes can getting down in running train (slowing down train) sometimes affect knees (mostly use sport shoes).
Unfortunately this weekend orthopedic surgeon was outstation so could not consult.
And yes your inference regarding general pain due to vitamin deficiency seems correct, since once my general physician prescribed zincovit B vitamin for some reason that time pain reduced. This weekend I am going to visit the surgeon.
Thanks Sanjay

His stool occult is consistently positive(3 tests) for presence of blood. Also, they could not find much from his recent endoscopy and abdomen ultrasound scan. So, we have scheduled an colonoscopy in this week. Meantime, He has been prescribed to take 'pantoacid' before food in the morning and also evening. Could doctors on this forum, advice on what this could be, and also suggest some gastroenterologists in B'lore?

Which is the best hospital in India for surgery of Pancreatic Cancer. A friend is in need of this. We have read enough on net about chances of survival etc. Still if doctors suggest surgery he wants to do it in the best hospital.

Also Homeopathy seems to have some promising cure. Hence on a parallel path if Homeopathy medicines are to be administered, pls advise the best consulting homeopath for pancreatic cancer. From overnight search all seems to be from Germany. Wondering if anyone is from india

I am looking for suggestions for dandruff treatment. Yes, though head and shoulders etc all claim it, but I need a better and reliable solution.

There have been lots of claimants, Patanajali, Dr. Batras, however, not sure which is better.

Looking for advise from BHPians.

If any good doctor in NCR, do share the same.

Look for Scalpe, medicated shampoo from Glenmark Pharma in a medical store and give it a try. It worked really well after my dermatologist recommended it

Thanks, having tried Selsun for quite some time and now using Phytoral, will try this out.

Also, wanted to know if a medical solution is available for the same since along with dandruff I can see a lot of hairfall.

For dandruff, use medicated shampoo as @thenomad said, frequent hair washes and persistent usage is the key here. Remember its a fungal infection and takes some sweet time to go off.
And regarding hairfall, use Hair4U 5% spray, twice a day. I've been using it for a while and the result is pretty good. During the initial usage you may notice more hairfall, as the medication removes the damaged hair and helps to grow healthier ones.

Thanks, will try this out too. With Delhi winters, the menace of dandruff is too bad, no amount of shampoo cleaning (solution like Selsun, Phytoral) is helping as expected.

Will try both Scalpe and Hair4U.

I visited a dentist today to get a filling in the in a lower tooth of right jaw.

The dentist cleaned the cavity, drilled it. He initially said a root canal was required. He told me to tell him if there is pain when he was cleaning.

Fortunately, I didnt have any pain.

He finally said a filling would suffice. He did a temporary filling today and asked me to come back on Monday for permanent filling. He charged me Rs 1000.

Please comment on the diagnosis and the charges. When does one need RC ?

That is probably indicative of a non-vital tooth. Did your dentist x-ray the tooth?
