Thanks Pferdestarke, are there OTC names for the creams or should I ask as such?

Gradually she started developing pain in her hands and loss of strength specifically while signing and writing. We took her to a physician who mentioned that she may be suffering from Parkinson's and advised some medicines like medopar (this she is continuing currently for the last 2 years). Post that we took her to a neurologist who confirmed that she is indeed suffering from Parkinson's but a very mild one and kept the medicines same. Due to the medicines, she is fine till the effect and then the pain subsides again. In the last 3 months her hands are feeling better but her left leg has started painting very badly so much so that at the beginning of every movement involving her leg she literally has to drag it to start. She compares the stiffness in her thigh to be as if it is full of rocks. Normally the pain starts every night at around 3 am and lasts way into the morning. I have also got her started on to some Ayurvedic medicines last month but we are yet to see any improvements. She is very strong willed but lately I am seeing her getting a little nervous and upset since she is having trouble walking. She still does a lot of house work as the doctor suggested that she should be active.
I hope some one on this forum can help me by suggesting / recommending some doctor / treatment which can help her. I am based at Delhi.
Hello Storm'ed, i just read your post. The pain your mother describes may be sciatica or related to prakinsons itself. You said that the pain starts in the middle of the night and goes on till morning, this is when the power of the medication subsides and the brain is deprived.
Does she sleep at unusual positions like reclining or head down?
There are few reasons of which two i have mentioned.I think you have to consult a good neurologist to adjust the dose of the medication.
I also want to ask does she move her legs often while resting or does she have the urge to move them because of pricking pain or discomfort.
All these can be managed by medication.
I Hope my advice helps.Hope she gets better.

Hi Gaurav, thank you very much for your input. Our regular dentist is an orthodontist. The points that you highlighted will be a good point of reference during our next visit.

Have a look at my son's legs. He is 5 years old now.
He cannot put his heels together if his knees touch each other. I noticed this recently.
Is this some abnormality?

That seems like Genu Valgum (knock knee). It is seen in growing children and usually gets corrected as the limbs grow. But it's highly recommended to consult an orthopaedician to rule out other etiologies which may warrant treatment.
P.S: No need to worry

Can anyone suggest an Orthopaedician in Bangalore, preferably in and around Whitefield area? My colleague supper from a herniated disc about 3-4 years back. Since yesterday he's having some serious back spams. He got the MRI done after consulting a doctor from Apollo Clinic and Kundanahalli and now the doc has asked him to undergo an operation. My friend wants to take a second opinion from another doctor before even thinking about going for the operation. I called up Doctor Hemant of Ossicare, but seems like he isn't free until Tuesday evening. Do let me know. His family is in Mumbai and I'm all he's got to take care of him.

I am recuperating from chicken pox currently, and the blisters have almost dried. I need to join work asap, probably in the next 4 days.

I would like to know and understand the precautions I have to take right away for the next few days. Personally I have decided to stay away from non-veg food and drink lots of water. Can I start moving out in the hot sun and use regular toiletries like soap, shampoo, sun block etc. Completely clueless. Any other pointers would be appreciated too.

I'm not aware of any Ortho specialists in Whitefield area. I had to visit an Ortho specialist for my father's surgery.
I used the services of Dr. Srinivas of Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road. He did an excellent job and was easily approachable.

TBHP Doctors - need a help.

I got a swelling in my neck 2 months back when I had throat infection. It is on the right side of my neck - straight below the ear and where the throat is located. Consulted family physician and he has recommended anti biotics 1 course, it came down but did not disappear. one of course of anti biotic did the trick.

Now I had mild throat infection 2 days back and recovered. However this swelling has come back.

It is kind of hard and in small half egg size -a visible one

What should I do? Taking anti biotic looks like only a temporary fix.

That swelling is called a lymph node. Seems like an inflammatory node due to the throat infection. In the normal course, will get smaller and disappear in a few week after the infection is gone. Not a cause for worry. Also, many of us will have small "insignificant" nodes, often permanent.

I suggest you don't google about it.

Just for reassurance, get your throat and the node seen by an ENT.

+1 to one-77. Hope that apart from mild throat infection, you had no other problems and you had no fever. At times, the lymph nodes swell when there are signs of infection in the body. However, just as one-77 advised, for reassurance, see an ENT.

My sister's left wrist frequently pains, and is sometimes swollen too. The pain starts at around the base of the thumb (palm down position), and sometimes engulfs the entire forearm. We had applied iodex, omnigel etc, did some Ayurvedic treatment, even visited an orthopedist who deduced the pain was because of heavy use of texting and using mobile. But she never uses mobiles for texts, and hardly ever dials.

She has not done any rigorous activity that she remembers where she had hurt her hand. When she works around the house, the arm pains depending on how active she had been in the day! What to do?

Any home made remedy or do we need to go for xray or such? Is there any good orthopedist in Pune? I live on the east side.
