re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Any bone docs on the forum?
On sept 18 a drunk old man rammed his bike in to my left leg and i was flung over and landed on my back disoriented. As soon as i was in my senses i tried to get up and realised i had no sensation in my knee and could not bear weight on it.
Rushed to hospital where a xray revealed a 4mm tibial condyle fracture in the back of my knee and a scaffoid fracture in my left hand which the docs were not sure of.The docs recomemded surgery and said it would never let me go back to the gym.So i rushed to a sports medicine ortho who decided to treat it conservatively as he felt surgery woukd cause more harm then good.
I was given a knee brace and shellcal along with vitamin c tabs and to be reviewed by xray every two weeks. My mri indicates ACL tear and the doc says it would fall back if not a minor arthoscopy would sort the issue.
I do hav a swelling in my leg and hav started physiotheraphy past three weeks.Right my ROM is 90degrees beyond dis is cant bend my knee..something inside feels like its gonna break.i feel a tremendous pull when i try.My physio says its stiffness and i should try to bend however i just cant.My knee is sti swollen and my flexion is also not cent percent.
I would like to know is what all am experiencing normal?how long and will the knee become straight and bend slowly with time?I feel since it wasnt used for a month my muscles hav atrofied and hence slowly will get back.
Please let.me know what you docs thinks of.

Looking for an opinion from an orthopedic

I'm working in a bank which entails 8 hours plus computer work, 5 days a week. Over the past few weeks I've had bad neck / upper shoulder back pain. It hasn't restricted movement of neck but muscles kind of feel very stiff. Its a pretty annoying pain to say the least, which doesn't seem to go away with ice / hot packs, volini gels or light paracetamol tablets. Once the effect subsides the pain is back.

To compensate for my work fatigue, I go running every evening for 3-4 days a week and have a reasonably healthy diet barring an occasional fried stuff. I also make sure that I take frequent breaks, atleast 1 every hour or so and do some basic neck exercises. Despite all this the pain hasn't gone away.

Beginning to scare me a bit. Hence seeking some doc opinions.

Start some physiotherapy with short wave diathermy and TENS. Try to get an ergonomic chair and keyboard and do not slouch while on the job. Every half hour, get up and stretch, walk around and unwind for 5 minutes. Take lots of fluids, some antioxidants and avoid smoking. You should be fine.

You will need an arthroscopy of the knee to assess the status of your ACL. The MRI report varies from the duration of the injury and may not give the exact status of the rupture. It will also help in increasing the ROM by adhesiolysis. Just make sure you get a good person to do the job. You may need an ACL reconstruction wherein a graft from your patellar tendon or hamstrings will be used to substitute for the ACL. Best of luck.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. It can be done at any good physiotherapy centre.

My 6 year old autistic son has a new teeth coming behind an existing one. The front tooth is now very shaky, but he is not letting us remove it. I can reach it and pull it towards me, it moves by couple MMs, but he doesn't let me get a grip on it.

Will the new teeth push out the front tooth by itself without our intervention?

Leave it alone, as long as he doesn't complain of any pain. The teeth are in perfectly normal relation, and the milk tooth will fall off on its own (or he'll worry at it and pull it out himself) in a few months (usually 3-6 months), and tongue pressure will make the lingually placed permanent tooth come into alignment with the rest of the arch.

If he does complain of pain, a single dose of whatever analgesic you normally use for him, will take care of the discomfort, and no intervention by a dentist is required at this stage.

Thanks SST. He doesn't have pain, even when I pull it forward. We will leave it alone.

i would recomend seeing a dentist if the front tooth doesnt fall by itself in some time, may be 2-3 months. in some cases the milk needs to be extracted to provide space for the new tooth.
the new tooth will align itself with tongue pressure provided adequate space is created by removal of the front milk tooth.

That bridge got looser and looser. I told the dentist, today, it's going to fall off, and, indeed, he just removed it with his fingers. The implant screws were a little loose, but no damage to them or the implants. It's temporary-cemented in place now, back there same time next week to discuss the long-term solution, replacing worn crowns and correcting the bite again.

Thanks to Tejas@perioimpl and car-dent for reassurance and extensive information

Re: Facial swelling

This is about the facial swelling on the left side of my face. This happened first time around third week of September. At that time, it used to swell up whenever i eat like as if i have a small lemon inside my mouth, and used to subside on its own, after 30 minutes or so. Consulted a general physician here and he ran a blood test. Nothing came off it, and he advised me to visit a ENT physician. Slowly this issue subsided on its own and so i ignored the same. But now and then had some weird feelings around that area.

These days am feeling tightening up of the muscles beneath my left chin n behind the neck. So visited a ENT physician y'day and she prescribed me an antibiotic (Clindamycin 300MG) to be taken like 4 per day for 10 days. And also, she wants me to undergo a CT scan for the same.

Could physicians/others here share their opinion what this might be, and also does this absolutely require a CT scan to diagnose? Please advise.

I think it can be a sialolith in your parotid gland. I advise you to visit a dental surgeon.

Weird pulse sound in my ears

Couple of weeks back during my swimming session in Goa, I suddenly felt that I could not hear at all from my left ear. I went to the ENT specialist, who removed wax deposited near my ear drum.

I am back in Pune now and now suddenly out of no where I am getting these weird noise between my ear which is not going away. I thought it was maybe due to wax deposition so I used "Soliwax" drops. But no relief, then as usual I checked up on Google about this condition. Came to know something Tinnitus, which can be permanent. Freaking out!! Please help me!! I want to get rid of this irritating noise.

Visit your ENT in Pune. Google can't treat you.
