Default Conviction

Saw Conviction (2010) - IMDb.

Wonderful Movie. Its about a sister (Hillary Swank) who is convinced that her 'bad boy' brother (Sam Rockwell) was framed in a murder & that he's innocent. It shows how she literally sacrificed her life, her family, studied law just to see if she could find some evidence that could help her set her brother free. Its based on a true story. Go watch.

My Rating: 4/5

Watched attack on Darfur last night:

Brilliant and gory are two words which comes to my mind. If what happened was true then am lucky to not be born in a war torn country. It is basically about a group of journalists who are visiting darfur to find if ethnic cleansing is happening and who end up actually bearing witness to barbaric acts just to wipe out communities as a whole.

Hatred is very clearly shown and a disrespect for human life is very distinct in the movie. Where are all you people who get democracy to the world when this was happening.

Do watch this movie as it will make your heart bleed.

3.5/5

Guys check out Angel Heart Angel Heart (1987) - IMDb. Its a psychological thriller. M Night shyamalan fans will enjoy definitely enjoy this one. Amazing acting by Mickey Rourke. Couldn't believe its the same guy from Iron Man 2. Also Robert De Niro is in this one though its a small but important role.

RED: Bruce willis in this mindless action as an ex CIA guy is awesome. Got a thin story line but some funny action scenes.

Fellas
Just came across the 83rd Oscar nominations list. What do you think?
Looking at the nominations since last 4-5 years, I don't understand what is going on? I think its losing its old time charm.
These are my comments
No nominations for "Shutter Island"?
“The Social Network” got 10+ nominations?
No Direction/Editing nominations for "Inception"?

I am happy with nominations for "True Grit", "Fighter" and “The Kids Are All Right” though.

Saw 'The Green Hornet' [3.5/5]

A fun superhero movie. Don't be alarmed by the 3.5 rating. For relaxing after a hectic week, it's good. Just don't expect anything serious. It's just a stressbuster.

What old time charm is lost now. You go through the decades, you will always find a lot of bad ignores & silly awards.

Watched 127 Hours yesterday. Good movie and lead actor James Franco did a very good job. It is based on the true story of a mountaineer Aron Ralston. AR Rahman's music is strictly below average and loud but it matches with live lead character in the beginning.

My rating 3.5/5

Saw the following movies over sometime.

Tangled: 4/5 : Great movie to watch, esp even after knowing the story its a great entertainer

Dobhi Ghat: 3.5/ 5: Good serious movie. Not the kind of regular Bollywood movie. Its slowly sinks in your mind. and creates an impact.

Black Swan 4/5: Great watch. - The movie is very strong, its not the lite kind of movie. But a great acting by the protogonist, brings it to life.

King's Speech : 3.5/5: a good movie. It just goes to show how complicated the life of Royals are. The hero is a stammerer just goes to show how much pressure he goes thro when he becomes the king.

Freakonomics: 4/5 Its a documentary and really enjoyable. IF you are a fan of the Freaknomics the book you will enjoy it.

Green Hornet: 2.5 / 5: An average movie. Its a good action movie, interesting for sometime.

True Grit: 4/5: The girl tries to get right people to avenge her father's killer. Its a classic + Spagetti Western style movie. Really enjoyable watch.

it was an adventurous weekend
I feel Into the wild >> 127 hours.
Munich was not that great.

127 Hours

Too much hype because it's a Danny Boyle film. Good cinematography and great performance by James Franco. However, the film doesn't effectively convey the desperation and panic that Aron Ralston must have felt. It was an average film. I felt like I was watching the Discovery Channel....yawn!

'The Mechanic'
Jason Statham.
So so predictable. After watching such english movies I will never say that only hindi movie heros are invinsible. Not a bullet wound in the entire movie dispite massive voilence.
Jason Statham is getting into the same same roles again. I felt like I was watching Transporter except that there was no Bimmer to drive around.
Again, contract killer, his company turns against him, he saves himself and kills his enemies and walks away w/o anyone coming to know what was.
There are dull moments in the movie.
2.5/5.
Can be skipped. If you liked transporter then watch it again. You will not miss much in this one.
