Watched G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Good actors, decent effects, lame storyline and in the world full of Dark Knight, Iron man, Avengers & Transformers etc this is not half as interesting as it used to be during the animation days. Even Die Hard & RED series are better, Ofcourse this is IMHO.

2.5/5

On a side note, they are rebooting RoboCop, makes me wonder how they can make him stand out when we already have Iron Man.

^^ He looks quite like the young Jobs but does Ashton Kutcher have the necessary depth to portray such a complex character? Every time I look at him I think of Kelso from That 70s Show!!

Jobs has met with mixed or average reviews during film festivals. Even for me the trailer looked so-so. I hope to be proven wrong though.

Secondly, some of the other movies that i'm looking forward to this year are:

Rush based on the Humt-Lauda rivalry

The Family, starring Robert De Niro & Tommy-Lee Jones

Out of the Furnace: This one stars Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Zoe Saldanha, Forrest Whitaker & Willem Dafoe. Not to forget produced by Leonardo Di Caprio. A dream star cast.

This is the End: A comedy where actors such as James Franco, Emma Watson, Joah Hill play themselves.

Can't wait for August 16, two movies I am looking forward to:

1. Jobs: Surprisingly Aston Kutcher does resemble a younger Steve Jobs. Not expecting much, but still hopeful.

2. Kick Ass 2: Loved the first one, and the second seems faithful to the comics as well.

Kill the Irishman

A true story, dramatized for the screen.
Its about Danny Greene, a mobster with Irish roots, and his fight against the the italian mafia in Cleveland. Its a brilliant depiction by Ray stevenson, and awesome portrayal of the 60s/70s, and amazing cars(not in your face, just there in the background).

A solid 4.5/5

Watched 'Now You See Me'
Really enjoyed it. Good story, well acted, fast paced. And yeah the twist in the end I saw it coming within first 20 mins of the movie
Rating- 9/10

Jobs: 3.5/5

Saw it yesterday. Although I wouldn't call it awesome, I think one shouldn't go watch it with that expectation. It's an insight into the life of Steve Jobs and I think they've done a good job of covering the major milestones of his life.

Loved the start!

Warning: non-Steve Jobs fans might find this movie really boring.

Star Trek - Into the darkness.

Excellent. J.J. Abrams really nailed this movie. All characters played the movie really well. Only the second line of the cast may have given mediocre performance, really hard to find any serious negative about this movie. Extremely involving and the pace is good. Good work on special effects.

Too bad that this movie was not launched in theaters here.

5/5 for this movie.

It was launched here, and in IMAX!
The best IMAX movie I've seen till date.

@mayankk, the movie was not launched in Cochin or entire Kerala. The nearest place where it was playing was Bangalore. :( A trip all the way there just to watch a movie was out of the question.

@nareshov, It must have been brilliant as it was shot in IMAX format.

Hawkie, I don't agree. My rating is 2/5.

My biggest fear was that Ashton "Kelso" Kutcher would not do justice to the role, but I needn't have worried. He is competent enough. He even manages to convey the intensity that Steve Jobs was legendary for.

My problem was the choice of incidents to portray and how these were portrayed. The first half of the movie featured stuff that anybody who has ever read anything on Apple would know. There is nothing new there. The treatment is not original at all. It's the same ole same ole.

It gets interesting towards the end but the best parts of his life (the Mac and iPod triumphs, Pixar) are completely glossed over. Also, strong characters in Jobs' life are completely relegated to secondary roles here: his wife Lauren, for example, and his (adoptive) parents. Jobs's tormented hunt (eventually successful) for his birth father and sister, his conflicting emotions about his daughter Lisa (from a girlfriend whom he abandoned) are barely touched upon. The GUI that he "stole" from under Xerox's nose, his love-hate relationship with Bill Gates, all those are either completely omitted. Even the "battle" with John Sculley is far too one-dimensional for my taste.

Anyone who has read Issacson's bio of Jobs will come away feeling disappointed. Plus the movie doesn't work technically for me. Editing is choppy, the movie either drags or goes by too quickly. When it ended, most people were just sitting and waiting for more.

Apparently there is another movie due to be based on Issacson's biography. Hopefully that will deliver.

Watched Olympus Has Fallen, and I was impressed with the cast and the way it has been shown. I would rate it 3/5.
