Will await, thank you. Would have done a walk about in both Bhogal & Khari Baoli but it's just too hot. Having said that would gladly go down to the source once it's revealed.

It doesn't make sense that old men from Delhi are asking an old man in Bengaluru to procure an item that the said old man had said in the very first instance is available only in Delhi!

Update: Ah well! My sister said one of her patients from Srinagar gets it for her. Next batch only in Oct / Nov maybe. :(

There is something similar available, but I am not sure if it is really the same. Kanwal Masala Tikki. Available on kashmiribazar.in. May also be available at the only other shop I know in South Delhi to stock such odd items: Durga Masala Stores in INA Market (if it still exists). BUT ... this is a Veri masala meant to be used in Ver, which is a Kashmiri Kheer which can be made in sweet and savoury, and veg and non-veg variants!

Please confirm it with your doctor sister (she has to help a senior professional colleague), I would take a dozen of those. All expenses paid.

Two for Anup and two for Khoj out of my dozen. (no expenses to them).

Meanwhile I don't mind exploring Bhogal, Sadar Bazaar and Chawari Bazaar on foot with khoj or alone to get it. Just let me be in Delhi for a couple of days. I would also pay a visit to INA, my old hunting place.

Thanks Der Alte. You deserve a nice buffet dinner for reminding me long forgotten discs. I would have two evenings free. May be on 22nd or 23rd June. Your choice, I pay.

Texture is similar, the color is misleading in the Amhor pic. Yes, the same Kanwal Masala Tikki. And they will never write the ingredients. Can't say if it is the same till I actually smell / taste it.

Update for the ongoing Kashmiri Masala Tikki thread :

Ordered three Kanwal masala tikkis. Hope to get them by next week. Would use them and report and would not forget to keep them in the freezer.

They do have quirks. eg if you order 1 tikki weighing 200 Gms the courier charge is Rs 90. So i ordered three and was charged Rs. 160 for 600 gm. But if I order 1 Kg of their Kashmiri Mirch the courier charge is only 102 for a kilo !

Kashmirbazaar.com.

They do have Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder too at 3xx per kilo which is fair price, though I get dried kashmiri red chillies from Khari Bawli @ 160-180 a kilo but only during few months of the year.

Whoops. would have spent Rs. 270 instead of whopping 610 for three tikkis.
Never mind. They would be delivered at home. Now that's a bliss.

But they don't seem to have a hole in the center as DerAlte reported in his tikkis.

Aroy :

What is your experience with these masala tikkis ?

Hello,

This question does not directly relate to this thread, but this is the most appropriate place to ask this question:

How safe are ready to eat Indian meals - like MTR, ITC, Haldiram etc. ?

If i read the package contents of Haldiram ready to eat, it does not say anything about preservatives or all. Or rather - it proudly annonuces - no preservative, no added colour, 100% natural etc etc.

How are these foods preserved then?

Are these meals dangerous to have - even once in a while?

That depends on your definition of 'safe' .

They're mostly preserved by using a high quantity of salt and fat. They're obviously not recommended for your usual dietary intake. The way I see it, it's food designed for people that go camping, trekking. It's pretty harmful in the long run but an occasional serving wouldn't do much harm. The average family mustn't even look at such stuff when healthy alternatives are readily available. I remember reading a TOI article about it once but I can't find the link to it.

EDIT : found the link

Can you please share your recipe for the rogan josh?
I have been hunting around for a good rogan josh recipe, but the recipes seem to have a wide variation in the ingredients and cooking method. So, would like to use an authentic recipe!
