Default Get out and V-O-T-E! - Have you voted in 2009?

Today's the first phase of elections in A.P., and I cast my (first) vote early in the morning. Over 700 million people in India are eligible to vote this year, and as (mostly young) Team BHP-ians, we have to make our vote count.

I'll put it in a language that we all understand.
a) Roads: the primary necessity for us petrol heads. Don't complain about the bad quality of the roads.
b) Don't say anything on this forum about Automobile companies (like Skoda selling us the Laura AND the Octavia) ripping off Indians.
c) Don't complain about how someone who caused a major accident walked unpunished because he had "connections" or money.
d) Don't be unhappy if your A.S.S is atrocious and you're charged an exorbitant amount for small parts.
e) Don't mention rising fuel prices.
f) Don't fret about being stuck in huge traffic jams.
g) Don't wonder why your case in the consumer forum against your car company is taking ages to move.
h) Don't curse the pothole on the road that almost kills you everyday.
i) Don't shout at the guy in the next car, for whom traffic rules don't seem to exist.

If you want to do any of the above (or more), cast your vote. It won't take very long, it's easy to do and it will make a HUGE difference.

Be the difference you want to see. You'll find that in the murky depths of Indian politics, there always seems to be one exceptional person who has not yet been influenced; so don't make the excuse of "nobody worth voting for".

I picked up a few points from other threads on the forum. If there are any rules against this sort of thread, I am unaware of them and offer my apologies.

And again, V-O-T-E. For yourself, if not for your country.

will not until a system comes in place where the 'govt' is actually afraid of people not the reverse. and Aristotle (or Plato?) told that a system will bring the end of the same system. so matter of time? waiting lol. (no hard feelings lol).

Don't you see? You're a part of the system! If you want to see a Government that is scared of the people, vote for a person who you think is that way.

You ask how long it will take for the system to end. You're educated, you're aware of what we need for the country, and for the system. And yet, you don't vote. How, then, do you expect other people who may not be as aware as you to elect the right leaders? By not voting, you're doing just as much harm to yourself as the system is doing to you.

No hard feelings.

Voted for the first time today!
had a very hard time finding information about the candidates contesting from my constituency.
there were 17 candidates mentioned in the EC website but was shocked to see 17 symbols on the EVM.

I think EC should take a step further and give out facts and information on the candidates on its website.

you have to make a lot of compromises . else you vote for the less worst. else you find out the worst and vote for their enemies. else you vote someone "new" know expecting them to be less harmful when they are not "new"..or may be other options too. i Kerala it's very easy. it's generally 'binary' election. keep switching between only two parties and their allies.

Go crazy on voting people, it's our chance to make a choice.
And if you don't vote, don't crib.

cheers
