Though I do not claim to be an expert of any kind, I have observed certain things about women, and needless to say, put some to good use.

1. Always say they look great. Not good. Great. Always.
2. If they have shopped, the dress bought is something amazing that you have never seen before (even though you may have seen every third woman sport that outfit).
3. If the woman in question has gone for a haircut, it has to be the best haircut that you have seen on her till date. Which means that she gets progressively better haircuts/styles.
4. Do not, repeat DO NOT, offer a solution to problems, unless specifically asked for one. All you have to do is listen, or atleast pretend to the best of your ability that nothing interests you more than the problem being narrated. And therefore do not use your tongue. Except at certain times of the day

Cheers!

obviously the most important skill required here to lie , and lie really well.

here are some guidelines esp when lying to a woman.
1. make eye contact while lying.
2. dont fidget, look away, etc ( read books on body language for more info on this.)
3. when you are making eye contact "try" and make sure ur pupils dont dilate too much.( takes a lot of practice)
4.be as remorseful as you can be when you are expressing how bad you are feeling since you wont be able to make it .
5. use issues / reasons which showcase your "sensitive" & emotional side.
6. finish up and change the topic as soon as possible with some "tell me/say something sweet" lines.

I agree with you here. Because after a point all those issues will be there for you to solve anyway.

Yeah, that's also a right one to begin with. Because later on you'll be blamed for not giving your ears for every single issue.

I just noticed what that sounded like, considering the previous title of the thread!

I see that a lot of people are suggesting listening, and not talking. NOT A GOOD IDEA. Women, being who they are, will find fault with that too and complain about you being "emotionally unavailable" or something fancy like that.

The secret lies in talking occasionally, but talking only about things that interest her. DO NOT, under any circumstances talk about your life or your feelings (unless they're to do with her, in which case they will interest her).

first and foremost, make an effort to look only at her eyes while you talk. This is the toughest part.

Ok Iceman here is my 2 paisa bit.

1. Learn to appreciate things, Give lots of compliments even if there is nothing to compliment about remember no women is fat they are just healthily plump , All dresses they wear are unique For example Mauve and lilac are distinct shades from violet which 2 dozen other girls may be wearing.

2. Things your really want to say should be best left unsaid.

3. Talking is not your job it is prerogative of women.

4. Don't be overenthusiastic to please em as stated in your initial thread title if you try this you will evoke brotherly feelings and become 'best friend' .
There can be nothing worse for a man then being just a "best friend".

Best of luck

Though this may sound very sexist, i have heard from many of my female colleagues and friends the same. That its very uncomfortable when the eyes move away from the face during a conversation. Especially in a work environment and yes this happens alot in Indian context.

Lesson Two: After listening, speak but do NOT offer direct/logical solutions, which you are sure will work. Instead try the indirect guidance approach, it works better

Hhhhmmm, I always thought women never want us to give solutions to their problems. They just want to vent out and eventually they would have figured out the answer to the problem themselves. All we got to do is to hear them with all intent.

Arindam, at times women do expect you to be really honest with them because it is you who they are trying to please at the end of it all. It does not end up turning out the way you have interpreted, specially the hair cut and the dress scenario . Or maybe I have just been plain lucky.

Siddharth, if someone reads this you are going get a T-RS (not Turbo RS but teeth rattling slap) . But given your talent, I am assuming you are going to convince her with your charm? lol.

Like Jaggu mentioned, women don't like to be told what they should do or should not. Instead hint at them indirectly or leave the choice to them. Most often than not they end up choosing what pleases you.
