Hi friends. Please suggest me how can i bring back to good shape these two great pieces. Especially i am very much interested in restoring the Citizen. I have planned to visit the Citizen service centre in Jaynagar, Bangalore. Or do any one suggest a better place. What are your ideas in restoring. is it good to replace with steel case or leather strap, other ideas etc.

Thanks in advance.

My dad used to wear it daily till his last day. I found it under his pillow on the day he passed away. Coincidentally, the watch had stopped working too.

Got it serviced and runs like a charm. It is currently losing about 5 secs in a day which is a fantastic accuracy.
its really a very special watch.
keep it safe

Guys,

Would like to know if anyone of you have heard or have feedback for the swiss brand Armand Nicolet watches. I'm eyeing on a automatic watch on Arc Royal product line from this swiss watch maker with 18k gold case and buckle (approximately $5000 value).

Earlier I was also impressed on their full calendar sterling silver model. All I have known is that this swiss watch maker is owned by Italian company and has their own movements compare to other swiss makers who are predominantly use ETA movements.

The watch that I'm considering and the sterling silver model pictures are here:

Now tell me what do you guys think about this watch?

The craftsmanship of the watches is extraordinary. Best bang for the buck in that price range. The flip side is that they are relatively unknown brand, so if you want brand, status, pls look elsewhere. And due to their lack of brand awareness, they go for very attractive prices, even brand new. So, wherever you are buying, strike hard. I have handled one for a few hours as an exchange with my watch enthusiast friend and it felt really good. His feedback about the watch is extremely good (he owns JLC, Panerai, Longines, BALL among others).

Regarding movements, most of the so called in house movements by many manufacturers are based on the ETA movement itself. They are slightly modified aesthetically and complication wise. Except of course the powerhouses like JLC, A & S, GO and some others who make the movements from scratch. Being in India, I feel safe with an ETA movement since its easily serviceable and spare parts are also available. With a complete in house movement, the repairs/service will take a lot of time due to lack of genuine spare parts and skilled labor. To each his own though :-).

P.S - Hope you are not considering this as your daily wear since its gold back case...

Thanks for the feedback, I agree with you as recently on this Christmas sale on the same brand (Armand Nicolet) Arc Royal steel watch priced at $1630 (orig. $6200). But the one I'm eyeing on is solid gold case hence price is kind of hard to break. (still trying my luck though)

As also i have already crossed over 100 watches slowly on my box, daily wear is not an option to me :-)

Apart from this watch, I'm also eyeing on the following watches 1. Baume et Mercier 14k gold dress watch (key wind), 2. Cartier Divan (automatic). What do you think ?

The Baume & Mercier is nice. Typical vintage and I would like to change the strap to an alligator one. The Cartier is not appealing to me sorry.

Talking of Baume & Mercier, see if you can get a vintage capeland flyback chronograph (if you don't have it yet :-)). Its very beautiful and classy, my favorite B&M.

Hi

There's 20% off on all Timex watches on watchcart.com and another special coupon "FESTIVEWATCH" will give you another flat 1200/- from the discounted price for watches above 5K. I've bought a Timex Chrono T2N158 Men's Watch from them for just 4356/- where the MRP was 6945/-. They shipped the item the same day itself, would love to deal with them in future too.

Here's a snap of it.

The information provided is very little to give you any recommendations. You can at least mention the

style of watch - dressy 3 hands, dressy chrono, diver
budget - starting range can be 10K for some and 50K for others

It is for daily use. Chrono is not required . Budget is within 10k. I am ok with basic function and not much interested in dual time and other things because I already have other watches with more features .
