Default Transfer charges : KA to MH ?

Fellows

What would be the octroi, tax and other charges to transfer a 600 cc bike from Karnataka to Maharashtra? Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dippy

Dippy, if you do it the official way, the taxes etc. would work out to about Rs.30-40,000. A lot depends on the duty paid at the time of entry into the country. The RTO calculates the taxes based on that.

Also, Blr. bikes are known to be dicey in their paperwork, so I'd be really careful. Unless you know the person selling it, and the history of the bike (as best possible), its safer to buy a MH bike. You pay a bit more, but you get piece of mind in return. Also, its easier to sell again.
