He had also agreed to strip and do up our 1986 gypsy (engine not opened as yet, original paint, seats etc) which I was looking forward too, where do you find someone with so much knowledge & passion.
He was very exited about restoring a Halflinger...

It shocks and saddens me greatly when such a young talent departs from this world so suddenly. Rest in peace Abhimanyu.

Just saw this thread shocking indeed , RIP alfa_kilo.
I knew him only from his knowledgeable posts on 4X4 and never imagined he was just 24.

Shocked. I met him in the mumbai meet and he was one person who loved jeeps. He followed his passion and started a garage too leavin a job in tata motors to do the same. This is sad that a blooming bud was nipped off at this early age.
May peace be with him

Abhimanyu, it is one year since you have left us. Although, I never met/interacted with you somehow you find a place deep inside my heart. Through various sources/discussions, I can proudly conclude that Alfa Kilo epitomized knowledge with humility.
It is just because of you that I happened to meet so many Jeepers/friends, enjoy nature in its full element. Kunal/Huda by organizing the AKC 2010 and Samurai by reliving those precious moments through his writings have given a fitting tribute to a young Jeeper.

All of us in Team BHP have found a Jeeper, a friend for life. Happy friendship day Abhimanyu, RIP.

Its been one year and all that is so fresh in memory. Alfa and me met for first time and went to see a CL340 and after close inspection he said yes and I bought it. Immediately after buying it he said lets go for a mini OTR.
We found a small sand dune near the hills. I tried to climb in 340 but got stuck. I got worried how it would come out now.
I tried to rev up and come out but kept sinking deeper. Alfa was looking from all sides. First he suggested me few easier methods then he tried himself on steering but no luck.. then he found out that front wheels were not getting traction as the previous owner had put flat wheel fringes I was really worried.. But little did I knew the person with me is an expert in driving his 4x2 Jeep in Pune for so many years.
Then he came down and he said letís take it out. He asked me to push the jeep from one side and we made a swinging motion. The sand went under the wheel and soon it was above and out. He sat inside, with just a little help of engine power and gravity reversed it and came out.. That was in March/April09 and he said final good bye in August09. A very small acquaintance..
He was so cool calm and humble that he never showed us how much he knew. Always patiently waiting observing and encouraging.. Jayegi Jayegii.. he always used to say..
Now I know we were with a master of techniques and knowledge thats why we always had a sense of confidence whenever we had him with us. Miss you Champ!!
We deserve not only one Alfa Kilo challenge but two each year. One up north also.. :'|
