Default Your choice of Alternative public transport

Guys,

we all drive to work / college and wherever possible in our babies. but there are days when we have to take public transport (eg - car gone for servicing) ..so what public transport do you prefer ??

the choices on the poll are a bit mumbai centric but you can substitute the similar one in your city and vote !

thanks

and yeah you cant choose another car in your garage !

Nothing but our stupid three wheelers called AUTO. No matter how much you hate them, they're part of our Bangalore landscape.

I prefer BEST buses. Something about ICE everywhere. The new buses have quite a rorty exhaust. Yet to try the new low floor buses though.

Some years back I would have opt for BEST buses but now I prefer trains.
They might be crowded but if you have first class pass, which I have, it seems very easy and fast... leaves all traffic behind. And service is not bad either.

Auto/Taxi....is the preferred mode for me....next best option if the distance is too long is Train

Navi Mumbai is not blessed with BEST.........NMT buses are a pain to travel in....

Hate Best buses and trains to the max.Autos and Taxis make more sense as you have the liberty to smoke and relax, listen to music and reach your destination without being too tired.

In Bangalore, AUTO is what I use. Even though they're annoying when I'm in my car, you gotta admit that they are easy to find, and can slice through traffic like a knife thru butter. But I stay away from Front Engine and diesels, I prefer the Petrol RE. They're pretty smooth and nippy.

BTW, do they still make the FE, those nasty things refuse to die.

If there are more people or luggage, then I go for the OMNI cool cabs.

In Chennai, the auto drivers are a rowdy bunch,(had a bad exp. once) so I take the pre-paid cab. Their meters are always rigged and you have to negotiate. Dunno if its improved these days but unless you are a local, get ready to be ripped off. Plus you gotta have A/C in Chennai.
