below is a pic of a letter that a child wrote to "GOD"
if a child can ask a question like that, why cant grown ups ask the same question?

would you still believe in god if you asked yourself that question?

here's the link-http://www.sharenator.com/Letters_To_God/942.html
I cropped out the letter that moved me and posted it here.

atleast that kid has an excuse- she is still at the stage where she has imaginary friends. what excuse do we as adults have?

EDIT
I thought I should add this quote from Epicurus

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

I would have really liked to see the kings face back then.
I would be interested in seeing if his god could do that (make the sun rise in west).

on a second thought, not interested. even if god had a tremendous source of energy, stopping the earth and rotating in the other direction would certainly cause all living life to vanish.

Did the story end right there? What was the kings reply? Was that documented or conveniently ignored?

So the point is even if man creates something like shown
in 'The Matrix' would he be able to achieve that, what
Abraham asked?
So we are pitching the man against the god here. Or rather we are pitching man against things that we don't know or don't understand yet. And since we don't know about them, naturally we(including that king) cant give any explanation for them.

The monk, has a easy job though. He will tell "god did that". Again for which no one has a proof.

Forget making the sun raise from west, how do we even know its god who made the sun raise from east? Its your faith. There is no rational behind it. So the question is "faith" or "rational thinking".

Actually that will happen on the last day and like you said it will result in the causing of all living life to vanish. Sun will rise in from the West, but we will not be there to see it.

Well, a life was created by someother means other than procreation, birds and bees, the old ways . Semantis of the post never get us anywhere.

Ohh there was no reply. The King was stumped and ordered Abraham to be thrown into a fire which was lit up for 40 days. He was thrown in it using a catapult and he survived in it for 40 days due to God's grace.
When people saw him coming out of the fire after 40 days many believed in his God who he was marketing.

So if the King did not understand who's power it was working behind Abraham who kept him alive for 40 days in a fire then who can convince such a blind man ?

There are many miracles in the Holy Bible and the Quran that was sent upon by God along with various Prophets who came with the sole purpose of convincing people that there was God and they had to live according to his rules and regulations. When those miracles were performed in front of people, some believed in that messager's message other's rejected it saying this fellow is a magician.

Ultimately its the person who suffers - who takes the action.
Thats just frustration. For God to work for you, you should be on his boundries first as you are the creation and He is the creator.
If you want Him to listen to you, first you should listen and act according to Him.
God is very very very sentimental about His religion/dharma/rules of life.
He has bore his chosen people to be tortured (messengers) for the message to be conveyed time and again, but He has never conpromised on His religion. To understand Him or even get a piece of Him you need to be in His fold and not the fold you understand according to word of mouth and media and the world and its people.

He is definitely working for me and many like me. Its just a human choice to life according to your means and convenience or His rules documented time and again, corrupted time and again and retained for the last time and form.

What is Makara Jyoti, Kerala HC asks - Hindustan Times

According to what I have heard, this light is made by army guys every year. I don't know why they have to make adults believe this is a yearly miracle. Even kids stop believing in Santa Clause as they grow up.

The reality that Makara-Vilakku (Makara-jyoti, is a star, I am told) is man-made and not celestial is known to most Mallus. But I guess I agree with HC that this should be made clear to all so that unfortunate incidents like what happened at Sabarimala some days ago can be avoided.

And some will attribute it to god. Guess what, WTC, pearl harbor, hiroshima, big bang, ice age, my headache last night, atheists, barkha dutt, Taj shooting, ram mandir/babri masjid, everything can be attributed to god. Some of them even claim they are doing it for god.

Why do we even care

Nope, I don't believe in god and won't believe either. (Or maybe I would if petrol comes down to 30 a litre or HarishV wins the case against Skoda )

It's not limited to that. Tens of lacs of pilgrims go to a place in AP just to take blessings from a fake magician who can puke out random things at will and magically manufacture 'Swiss-made' watches !

Just because one kid doesn't get his gifts during Christmas doesn't mean that all the other kids should stop believing in Santa clause

If you cant see something it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist

I just came across this in my friend's blog

Rules of the believer:

"Every good things that come to you is the grace of GOD
Every Bad things are from the Devil."

God must be indebted to devil.
Without him, he would lose all followers.
