Which email provider(s) do you use and why ?

Hi Folks,

Searched around in the earlier threads .. but didn't find one like this .. hence thought I would put up this poll ..
Mods if this has already been posted earlier , please to close it ..


The poll is very very simple ...

Which email provider(s) do you use and why ?

I was taking stock and found I had the following:

1 office id
1 hotmail id (this is the oldest - got it sometime during early 1997)
2 Yahoo ids
4 rediffmail ids
1 Gmail id
1 Indiatimes id

and there must be some others which I don't recall anymore ..

Tend to use my office id, one of the yahoo's (most of the yahoogroup mails come here) and one of the rediff's (general personal stuff) the most ..
The Gmail helps me use google talk ..
The Indiatimes id enables online shopping ..

Keep the others alive .. kinda sentimental about them !

I mostly use gmail and my own website(tanveer.in)
Gmail offers excellent usability and spam protection, while my own site provides me flexibilty, and even better spam protection, besides its cool to have an email id <anything> at tanveer.in!

The most annoying thing about Rediff is its pop-ups.

I rarely use my only YAHOO account. I give my office id for everything since it is easier to access as I will be logged in atleast 12 hrs a day.

G-mail - 2 accounts.One for official use.One for saving forwarded mails from other accounts.

Hotmail - 2 accounts for Personal usage.

Yahoo - Just for chatting.


I dont really like the security of other accounts than the ones above.

1 GMail (my primary account now)

Moved over to Gmail after I got sick of the 2MB that hotmail provided.
Have not had any problems with Gmail other than a couple of occasions when it was down (its a beta service, right?)

Only last week did MS decide that it was finally time to give me some more space, so now I have 25MB of space in hotmail.

I thought they were upgrading everyone to 250, or is that not right?

Hotmail. - Mail id for job postings,subscriptions etc.
gmail - ID to backup stuff
rediffmail - Rarely check this.. Used only as a test mail id.

Go through this link (how to increase Hotmail inbox size to 250MB) to increase your Hotmail account to 250MB.It works,all thanks to speedsatya.

Hotmail & Yahoo - 2 accounts ( had to make one seperate on each for the lady friends over the net )

Indiatimes - for shopping.

Rediff - because at that time of dialup services it was way faster than hotmail or yahoo.

Gmail - because of storage

Official - for ..well official purposes

two hotmail's email addresses one is personal which i also use to chat etc and the other one is for official and confidential work.

rediff..i had it since a long time so jus kept it activated for the sake of it.

and one gmail basically for storage.

I got 4 id's in yahoo itself...2 in G-mail..what more would I want...the G-mail space keeps increasing, so I got nothin to worry 'bout loss of space

Thanks for the link X-Machine.

Though I think since they already changed my account to 25MB, I dont know if it'll help coz the link says that storage goes from 2 to 25 and then 250 after a month is automatic.

I can just hope now that within a month they'll bump me to 250MB!

Hotmail - for non official stuff (and ID to give in most places) and for MSN
Yahoo - rarely
GMail - rarer
