Why should giving a token aid to the US be a matter of pride?
> Isnt US rich enough by itself? Giving relief material I agree. But money?
> Whats the point? Doesn' US have money? also, you cant eat money to
> can you?
> While there are enough problems in India, some of which can be addressed
> with some extra cash, whats the point in giving money (however small or
> large it may be) to the US? whom was the GOI trying to please / appease?
> Dont you find something amiss here? developing countries that are in debt,
> giving money to the US?
> Is this a matter of pride? -
> I take pride in the fact that during the Tsunami, India was the first
> country to rush huge aid (materials and manpower) to affected parts,

> And whats with this dean forgoing a meal a week until India aids the US?
> Does he believe the humilation from US is avenged ONLY if we give some aid
> (read: relief material, money) to the US?
> Isn't India already "aid"ing the US with a large chunk of its think tank
> being Indians, besides other nationalities? hasn't India given them

> The list can go on...
> It so happened that a hurricane hit the US, and India gave aid. Simple! a
> diplomatic gesture blown out of proportions by media (and blind patriots?)
> But cant we see that India itself is in aid for so many things, basic
> facilities- whats the point in helping someone if you yourself are need of
> Sorry, not me!

Techno - very valid points raised in that post of yours. But it does make you feel good to read 'trivial'stuff sometimes. Though a crash to reality is more benefecial in the the long run.
Sandeep, totally agree. But I disagree on one point - the legacy of LBS. He simply did not get the time for us to judge him. Regarding who I would vote for, I would vote for the son/daughter of AKA and JJ if you get what I mean.
