Default Team Motivation

I'm sure a lot of us work or work for someone and need MOTIVATION at some or the other point in time.

I tried my best to look at a thread which could suggest me IDEAS for MOTIVATION but could not find one so thought of THINKING LOUD on TBHP.

Currently i'm working in one of the BPO's in Gurgaon and am enjoying a WONDERFUL motivational execrice being run by my organization which is quite catching and exciting.

It's called the TFL - Teleperformance football League which has organised a 13 week event ( Kind of IPL ) wherein there are 16 football team within the organization playing against each other which engages as much as about 15 % of the toal employees as the players and almost 90% of them as the viewers. I'm considering close to 10% to 15% as attrition or as they call as the floating population.

Although some money has gone into it but the returns in terms of attrition control and motivation has been tremendous.

I'm just wondering if there are things like these going on in other organizations/businesses which might help other TBHPians in using these IDEAS.

I'm Just attaching one PIC as an Example of the ENTHUSIASM..Thats me in HARRY 7

I'm definetely on look out for motivational activities in companies and would really appreciate if the members here can pool in some ideas.

In the company I was working previously, we had a grand Annual day.

It was structured like this:
  1. The whole company was divided into 4 teams.
  2. A mail was sent to all employees informing about their teams and they had to chose a leader.
  3. They would then select a team name based on a theme (theme would vary each year) and come up with a team Jingle.
  4. Team group mail IDs were created.
  5. This is usually enough to bring the team members closer and start gelling.
  6. A string of activities was planned before the Annual day, these activities were individual or team activities, but the points always added up to the team.
  7. There were all kinds of events to involve as many people as possible.
  8. The activities were:
    1. Pencil Sketch - Individual
    2. Essay Writing/Poem Writing - Individual
    3. Face Painting - Individual
    4. Quiz -team
    5. Cricket
    6. Football
    7. TT
    8. Treasure Hunt
    9. Mad Ads
    10. Antyakhshari
    11. Dumb Charades etc..
  9. On the Annual day, there would be skit/fashion show etc
Points were awarded for each activity - 100/75/50/25 for group activities and 25/20/15/10 for team activities.

the points were all added up and the winner would get a rolling shield on the final day after all the events.

This was the highlight of every year and it helped people bond with each other to a huge extent.

This was a major reason many people would not move from this company unless they got a really really good hike.

Hope this helps

Hmm....both events sound more like team building than motivation.

I can talk about the event in our company which started about and 6 weeks back has already started yielding results in terms of enthusiasm and motivation.
