I can understand your passion about motorbiking. But, here we are not talking about just simple rain. It is blinding, thunderous where in sitting inside a car you cannot see even a feet ahead.

In our city, first time i experienced that last week. 2-3 trees fell on that road. Even if it was claustrophobic inside a car, i wouldnt want to be caught on a bike when the rain's fury is of such scale since i saw bikes were being swayed by the force of wind and rains and they looked a desperate lot.

It definetly cannot be bliss, even for you

@Predator, thats really sad. Not sure if insurance covers natural disasters? can someone clarify?

@NetfreakBombay & mobike008 - Yes guys, our insurance policies do cover accident and calamity insurance. So natural disasters are covered.

In my friend's case however, its a sorry deal. The insurance company has agreed on total loss replacement. But since its a 2 year old car, they will deduct 30pct depreciation on the market value of the car.

Now figure this. Assuming the car costs 6.5 lakhs on road. Deducting 30pct means he will receive only 4.5 lakhs in hand. If he has to buy another Aveo, he has to pay 2 lakhs out of his own pocket.

Also, he had bought the car out of his own money. If it was finance, whatever he got from insurance would have wholly gone into paying the finance guys!

Now that is what I call calamity!

On the plus side, the vehicle build sure is strong!

But seriously, it is sad to see vehicles and places in such a state. I guess, it is never too late to realize that we are human beings, and Nature can easily stomp all over us if we do not respect it.

Heavy rains are likely to lash coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu during the next two days as cyclone 'Laila' which further intensified and lay centred in the Bay of Bengal around 400 km east of Chennai, is expected to cross the Andhra coast on Thursday.

"Latest satellite images and radar observation indicates that cyclonic storm 'Laila' lies centred at about 400 km east of Chennai. This system is likely to intensify further and move in a west northwesterly direction and cross the Andhra coast between Ongole and Vishakapatnam in the early hours of Thursday," Met officials said.

Take care guys @ AP & TN.

WB Meteorological department forecasted that if the low pressure continues in Orissa and Gangetic Bengal, Cyclone Aila may hit these two states in the next 48 hours.

In any case, all of you guys should take care of yourselves and your cars.

My Padmini was hit last year during Cyclone Aila - she is back home last month - here is a pic:

Another week and end of summer (did it begin even?). Lovely weather for sure.

Hope people have taken precautions in AP and TN and we see no loss of life.
