Ravin, It is Gill nagar.

Redrage, I have been to these areas sometime before but not during rains. I loved those huge houses and the serenity of the area but never knew it looked like this during winter :( .

Senthil, Gill nagar is the area behind MMDA colony close the Nelson Manickam road. The road next to Spencer's daily on NM road takes you to Gill nagar.

Bluethunder... the first picture you have taken (RajaMannar Road) is where my FIL lives. Now we know how bad it is. No Current for the last 3 days and would be restored only on tuesday....

i live in velachery (VGP Selva Nagar) and ours is marooned till knee depth and since there is no current, have moved over to my dad's place in thiruvanmiyur..

Talking Nisha, nisha go away...Chennai TBhpians want to play !

Nisha is supposed to have left, but Nisha's ghost seems to be haunting Chennai !

Today, the sky cleared up a bit at around 11:30am, and I thought it wouldnt rain after that. But then all of a sudden, there was again a heavy downpour at around 2:30pm. Now finally, it seems to have cleared up for good (I hope !).

Manu, thanks for the info...I think I have passed thru this place : it seemed a good residential area. I did not realise it was a low-lying area, and would suffer like this in the rains.

While Chennai Tbhp-ians planned to drive to Mkuppam on sunday to take boat ride,we had boat's visiting our area on Friday -28th Nov.

I have attached couple of pics taken before I left for coimbatore on Friday afternoon.By that time a motor boat with around 20 pax capacity and another inflatable boat had joined the operation.

Pics taken in AGS colony road,Velachery.Apparently there was neck deep water there. These boats ferried people to my apartment complex area which had knee deep water.People walked away from here.

The third pic shows the cars in our complex.Unfortunately my car was not so lucky as my parking slot is in a low lying area.

My Petra had water upto its number plate in the front and slightly less water level in the rear.Came back today morning from Coimbatore and checked the car.It had around ankle deep water inside.Regular car washer is removing it as I type this.

Water level was hopefuly below the exhaust and I started the car.Just as I started, splurts of water gushed out from the exhaust for few seconds. Then no issues.Engine idled as usual and no difference in engine note as well. All electricals working fine.Is there anything else I need to check?

Was in Madras from ~1:30 am until ~7:15 pm yesterday. The following roads are slightly broken but otherwise there was no water logging:

Poonamalee bypass
Mount Poonamalee Road (from Mangadu turn off / Ringfeder building until Butt Road)
The road from Butt Road to Kathipara has some water logging but nothing major.
Mount Road (Anna Salai) from Kathipara until Little Mount (Chinnamalai)
Little Mount to Raj Bhavan
Sardar Patel Road is fine from Madhya Kailash junction until Alexander Square
The IT Corridor (Rajiv Gandhi Salai) is fine from Madhya Kailash junction until SRP Tools junction
Lattice Bridge Road is rough in many places (SRP Tools until Adayar Signal)
West Avenue towards Thiruvanmiyur signal is broken
Kamaraj Salai (Marina Beach Road) is fine but some patchwork needs to be done
Broadway / Parry's Corner / Rajaji Salai were surprisingly neat

My car M800 was flooded with Sewage and Rain water and water level was just touching the top of the wheels.

Can I start the car now or should call Maruthi Service guys before starting the engine.

I drained the water inside the car, removed the Carpet and floor mats for washing.

Please help me on what to do next.

One small thing, power went off at my place on Thursday at 5.30 PM and resumed yesterday evening. I stay at Arumbakkam and my place was inundated with Sewage water mainly .

Luckily water didnot enter our house, God saved.
Thanks,
