Correction - replays are not inconclusive on the lbw shout. Ball was directed at off stump, so Dravid's lucky to be there. My apologies for the earlier comment, just saw the replay with some time.

Dravid getting his second life and doing fine at 75 runs. Hope he gets a century against his name and add valuable runs to Indian board.

End of days play. Dravid gone for 93 and laxman on 29(or was it 27)
Dhoni and pathan batting
297/6
Was a slow day but a decent start to our batting lineup after all the hype regarding the pitch and shaun tait. Well tait didnt live upto the hype. Hope our bowlers perform better.
Now who is betting as to the total india would reach tommorow befor getting bowled out?
I predict a 390-400 run lead

I would say at least 360, maybe 410. A good days' play today, i would say it was even.

I predict something close to 350. Dhoni and Pathan can hit a few shots and Kumble can hang around a bit. Can't expect much from RP Singh and Ishant Sharma. With the new ball taken the Aussies are in the driver's seat.

It would be a decent batting effort by India, but not nearly enough. The Aussies will be looking to run away to a big score (500+) and have India on the run in the second innings. Ponting, Gilchrist and Clarke are due for big scores and the pitch at WACA will suit their styles. I am hoping that the Indian pace bowlers will fire on this pitch, which is supposed to be at its quickest on the second and third days. But our pace attack is lacking in Test experience and the Australian batsmen are good players of pace.

Somehow I am not happy with the dropping of Harbhajan and for that matter, of Hogg by the Aussies, despite their excellent all-round performances in the Sydney Test. Looks like selection policies are skewed in favour of batsmen and the bowlers/all-rounders get a raw deal. Hope Irfan Pathan seals his spot with a good all-round performance this time. But he too may get similar treatment sooner or later.

Jaffer and Sehwag got India off to a good start, but gave their wickets away. Dravid and Laxman played bad shots today, in uncharacteristic style. Ganguly played his usual waft outside the off-stump. It is a shot that gets him some runs, but also gets him out when he runs out of luck. Sachin was undone by the umpire's decision, but Dravid apparently benefitted from another.

350 looks like a realistic bet given the woeful form of Dhoni. If he can bat any longer, its an added plus. Irfan and Kumble will chip in a few runs. A total close to 400 would be reassuring for the bowlers.

Looking solid at the moment. 316/6. Pathan and Dhoni both on 17.

Bang! Pathan sends two deliveries back-to-back to the fence. Johnson suffers.

Just when it looked like we are heading for a 350+ score, the tail is wiped out in a matter of 2 runs. It was 328/6 and now it reads 330/10.

Guess, I celebrated too early! My bad.

But our people will lose this initiative as they have done earlier. We need to keep in mind that the Aussies are playing with 13 players.
