Default Cochin boys, hows the weather?

Ok, this sounds a bit wierd, but I was wondering how the weather has been for the past few weeks in Cochin. Is it really raining heavily there? Heavy enough to close roads in the hills??

And what is the current weather like? Rain still coming down hard?

Like I said, this post sounds wierd, but I need this info for something.

It rains about 6 months a year in Kerala, so continuous rains arent a problem like they are in the rest of the country. Roads are generally not closed, unless something very unusual happens. Road conditions may have deteriorated a bit this year on account of the continual rains, but they were still in excellent condition compared to those in Karnataka till two weeks ago.

IMHO, Kerala looks best in the rains. Enjoy!

Yes it has - all the more reason to visit ! As you would probably know, we see the kind of rains that flooded Mumbai (& Bangalore and Chennai) as a matter of course during the SW monsoon and its pretty much what you might call 'average' rainfall here.

I had a driving holiday in what was probably the heaviest showers of the season in early September and I enjoyed it (a few days after I bought the Dicor). This one should be a piece o cake.

In kerala all rains do is cause power cuts. So if you planning a visit this is the best time, because when it doesn't rain its painfully hot and humid. Infact for a driving holiday, this is the best time.

PS: Me not a cochin boy, but was in Calicut for 4 years.

The dates should be out by now...they've changed the routes for the special stages as they were trying to arrange private roads within tea estates and other plantations for the same after last year's incident where a 2 year old boy was killed when he tried to cross the road to join his father.

well, the rally is the reason I was asking about the weather and road conditions. I got reports that certain roads have been washed out or blocked, so wondering if that was true or not.

Cochin rally looks doubtful as of now.

The Popular Rally has been postponed to December allegedly because the original dates of 25th Nov were not acceptable to MRF who reportedly said they wont have time to prepare their cars after another rally on the 12th of Nov (which one is that?) in the north.

Will get you the new dates soon.
