Hey guys, just heard some reports coming in about some political parties announcing a Pune Bandh tomorrow.
The bandh has been announced against the demolition of Dadaji Kondeo's statue from Lal Mahal.

Yes, we just got a mail from our company to not to travel to office if there are any disruptions; our bus services, however, would ply normally!! I am thinking if I should really go!!

I am more worried about my car becoming the victim of some stray stone. We had an off today , so no communication for us. Maybe they will send out a communique tomorrow.

Dadoji Kondeo was Shivaji (Bhonsale's) guru. He was also a commander in his father's army , and is known to have a very strong influence in shaping Shivaji's character.

Hi!

He was a teacher to the great Chatrapati Shivaji when he was small.Infact Dadaji Kondeo was in service of his excellency Shahaji Maharaj, Shivaji's Father.

He was sent to take care of the then small Shivaji and his mother. APlease Google and you will get a lot of information about this.

Cheers,
Naj

Its not even a demolition only a relocation I believe.

Bandh's are the time parties test their clout, influence and muscle power on the ground. The media has TRPs mechanism, political parties do it this way.

My mom spoke to a Shiv Sena (atleast, close to the Sena) corporator, and things are pretty heated up right now.
Ofcourse, I personally plan to "participate" in the bandh by laying flat near a TV and spending most of my time eating and falling asleep. (Got an excess of leaves remaining).

I stay close to my office, just 5mins walk and that's the reason I never get chance to take advantage of any 'bandh' .

By the way whats the reason behind demolition?

Well, since I have been replying so much on this thread, I will try to reply to this one too.

This is a bit complicated. Without going into the politics of it, this is a general background.

- Dadoji Konddeo was a Commander in Shivaji Maharaj's father army, but he is best known for being a guru to Shivaji, being the highly skilled warrior that he was.
- Some political groups claim that all this is fabricated by members of the "upper caste" and he played no such part in Shivaji's life. Hence they want all references to him removed.

PS : This is a generalisation and a simplistic view. Please dont drag politics into this.

It may be a news in Pune but not to Keralites. They were dime a dozen in Kerala and people got so fed up. Even for one day there were two bandhs

Bandh is now banned in Kerala and have only hartals these days
