ItsSri Lanka who will win todays match. I am hoping for an all asian final.
Its should be India vs Sri Lanka in the final.

Fingers crossed - India dont do some stupid things against Pakistan looking at the WC record against pak.

SL plays spin better than NZ/ENG. That would negate the spin advantage (if you can call that advantage). Better to have NZ as finalists, easier to beat than SL

It would be unfair on NZ to say SA lost because SA choked. The main reason for their victory was that they were simply brilliant in the field. Watching them field was a real treat yesterday.

+1, I too have a hunch that it may be India vs England final. Althouth the current score 174/3 in 41 overs really doesn't look challanging.

Last night after the SA & NZ my 6 year old niece said 'I think India will win World Cup this time.' and this was the first time she watched a cricket match. I have promised her a big gift if her prophecy come true. India seems to be peaking at the right time. If India reaches the final, I am sure we will win the world cup regardless of whoever the opposition.

But its the Indo-Pak match that scares the corns out of me. Pakistan team is so damn unpredictable, they might just walkover the Indian team easily or might just collapse and play like a club side.

Cool Re: The Cricket World Cup 2011 thread

Looking at the way England batted their 50 overs, they sure are going to go home after todays match as SL is romping home without losing any wicket. They are already 146/0 in 29 overs.

I am planning to put in sick leave for coming Tuesday and Wednesday.

Lovely batting by India, SL was just not able to hold the Indian side.
Amazing Game.

EDIT: I am posting from the future.

204/0 in 36.2 overs against a test playing nation. Not just any test playing nation. A country that thrashed Australia in the Ashes. Sri Lanka is a force to reckon with. After winning the Semis, the finals against SL would be quite a tough one, I'd like to believe.

Wink Re: The Cricket World Cup 2011 thread

Finally a humilating defeat for England, tey could not take a single SL wicket. Both the openers turned centurions. India have to worry about them after they take care of pakistan.

Oh dear, I was hoping for a Ind vs Eng final. I have no doubts about us beating pakistan, we should do that easily (just look at how NZ thrashed them with one good century from Taylor).

Planned sick leave? I know I will have fever on the days when India is out there playing cricket.

All in all, I am too excited by the way India stormed into the Semi-Finals. My sincere request to the Indian team is NOT to take Pakistan too lightly, as we need to proceed into the finals. My son's prediction "India vs. Srilanka" final. He announced this even before Qfinals! He now-a-days breaths cricket! He knows so much details, he amazes all of us!

Cheer for India!

It all comes down to which team has the better day, on that day. A good team effort is what we need to beat Pakistan and possibly, Sri Lanka.

I am nervous about the Indo-Pak semifinal. I hope India loses the toss. If Dhoni wins then the burden of deciding whether to bat or bowl first and then the pressure of proving the decision right may play on the minds of the captain and the other seniors in the team as well.

Wrong. we should win the toss and fiels first cos if we can restrict them at 250 we will win the match surely.Main reasons-
1- batting is our strong point so whatever beating we get in bowling we can chase it down.
2.- Cos of dew factor in mohali at night team bowling second has huge disadvantage.
3.- in 2003 also we chased down 273 by Pakistan. We will do it again
