I don't know why you term this as politics Eddy? This is a comment from a sportsperson who applauded India not even a week ago and in the process, endeared Indians. But looks it was a mere sham..

If we can blast off Sangakara on this thread for alleged cheating, why can't we bring up Afridi's chameleon nature? I don't see any politics - its highlighting plain and simple non-sportsmanlike behavior.

Of course, there are always ways and means of coloring everything political, provided the intent is there. Which of course shouldn't be the case with T-BHP members

This is a thread dedicated to cricket - a gentlemen's game - anything which contravenes the spirit, can and should be brought up - all the more because of the following -
Quote:
After Afridi got back home:
Quote:
I seriously respect this guy now. You need real guts to criticize yourself in-front of the whole nation. A true sportsman. Hats Off!!
Quote:
For the cheers that Afridi got, the credit goes to his speech, not the audience.

I think what he says about the Indian media is true to some extent!

But then he is not able to have one coherent thought. Should probably ignore until he regains his mental stability, happens when the team is thrassssshed and the other team goes on to win the World CUP

Afridi is a good player. He knows very well, that in India he has to speak good things about our nation otherwise, they would have not been able to board the plane/bus/auto/cart to pak.

Once in their country, he knows very well he has to speak on behalf of his country, otherwise, the terrorist would kill them.

While on the topic of bashing, does the ICC need a tax break of 45 Crores from the indian government? And that too, with Sharad Pawar being a minister in the cabinet that approved this tax break, as well as the president of the ICC, doesn't it amount to conflict of interest? While we guys have to pay multiple taxes with no break in sight, the poor ICC guys can't afford to pay tax, so they get a tax break from the government.

This is not done.
World Cup 2015: Warren Deutrom - 'An absolute black day for the sport' | Cricket News | Cricinfo ICC Site | ESPN Cricinfo

Ireland deserves so much to be in the next WC. More than teams like Bangladesh, West Indies and Zimbabwe. Is ICC so out of touch with ground realities?

Thumbs up Re: The Cricket World Cup 2011 thread. EDIT: India World Champions !!

^^
This is a shocker of a decision! The suits at ICC are totally out of reality

The ideal decision should have been to have 12 teams instead of 14 which would give the 2 best associates a chance to participate in the WC.

Mr.Pawar + Haroon Lorgat & Co needs to have their heads examined!

I agree with this. I was quite stunned reading about Afridi's reaction. And I am not commenting about Pakistan or Pakistanis here, but as a sportsman Afridi could have done better. Aamir Sohail has similar thoughts (as mine).

Iam glad India won!!! Dhoni is a first class captain.
The most "sportsman-like" comment was by Kumar Sangakkara. I really appreciated his comment to Ravi Shastri after the match was over.
They are dignified sportsmen even in defeat. The Sri Lankan team are truly a bunch of "gentlemen".

Careful before praising Sanga! Lets wait till he settles down in Colombo for a week - he might do an Afridi. Hope not. He has supported Dilshan on that Aus match, supported Randiv on that no-ball issue. In front of Indian crowd and media - comment X, and in home environment give comment Y - unaware that in minutes it reaches Indian households.
