Thumbs up Quick road fix by Japanese workers

Stumbled on this article on the responsiveness of Japanese authorities to rebuilding roads damaged due to the recent earthquake.
An entire section of road is rebuilt in six days. Just brilliant.

Japanese repair quake-ravaged road in just six days — Autoblog

We cannot even fill a pothole in six days.

Kudos to Japan and its people.

Before and after pics of the damaged road.

That is Japan. In India, a pot hole will be filled with mud after 5 years..that too when election is nearing.

Kudos to Japanese.

That is nice work done. To do something like in India we need someone like E Sreedharan :-), Remember reading restoration of pamban bridge by his team. Original estimation was 6 months and later reduced it to 3 months. But his team did it in 40 odd days. We can do it but we wont!

Knowing what they are capable of, I am not surprised at all. The Japanese people will come out, all the more stronger , from this great natural calamity.

Wow that is something, looking at the first pic, I'm guessing they would have had to dig up the top layer, refill it and then relay the road ?

Why worry. We can build a road which will develop six dozen potholes, the day the payment is made. What automation. Much tougher than just filling a pothole.

We are still to complete the first stretch of the GQ which was started in the NDA days. Maybe we need NDA2 to get it done. Time is timeless, so the shastras tell us.

I came across the same images today morning and shared with a couple of BHPians & this is what I heard back. Quite eye opener for sure.

Name: IndiaJapan.jpg
Views: 1371
Size: 137.9 KB

This is what Arun (absynthguzzler) had to say

has anyone considered the fact that the before and after pics could have been interchanged by a typically whinging Indian who sought to potray his own disgust at his motherland r and came up with the poster ??

The trees on the right is a dead giveaway .
1 : There are more trees in the damaged picture indicating that the smaller ones have grown .

2: If it was a before and after shot in jst 6 days time , then how is it that the trees are not the same size and colour ( i.e same season of the yr) .

baaah humbug!........ i hate the muppets that come up with such cr*p to poison one's mind.

I'm not sure about the before and after pictures are right as the trees and their colours don't match. Looks like different season altogether for the after picture.

This is not to deny that the Japs are a tenacious race and the country will be back to normal very soon. But these pictures are just not right!

could it not be owing to the time of day and the light conditions a the time the photo was taken?
say the first one may have been taken closer to twilight - morning or evening. and the second could have been taken with the light of the sun on the trees.
just a thought..

The picture are right just taken at different places. The pic which shows the repaired road is taken from a position which is ahead of the the before picture.

Take a look at the transmission towers. Look 'ahead' in the before pic, it matches exactly with the after pic.

Please don't be paranoid and shy away to accept great accomplishments. Japan has nothing and nobody to prove their efficiency. They are on their way to rebuild a nation not to fill their own coffers.

Notwithstanding the debate of the "Before" and "After" pictures, what matters is the tenacity and dedication of these Japs to bounce back and march forward.

What with those 50 guys in the Nuclear plant or in genreal the people backing and helping each other.

Lets not take away the efforts of these guys away with a mere debate whether our country can do it or not. Please.
