Hi,

You might want to check the number plate. In 9 out of 10 cases that is the culprit. If I am right just put some sponge/heatlon behind the same and problem should be solved.

Car:
Tata indica
System
Pioneer 4750 HU(mp3)
Sony explode rear speakers(duno about model number)
Pioneer 4" speakers in dash
Pioneer 6" speakers in door
4" and 6" are in parallel as the system is 4 channel and not six channel

Cost : 10K, HU grey, speakers non grey

How serious :
Pretty serious. should sound good to my ears at medium volume. I hardly play very loud as I like to listen to music, not operate a PA system. So it be loud without hurting my years, and I like high tones rather than bass
Listening preferences
rock, 80s music, Punjabi with nice beats
Would you recommend?
I would definately go for a similar setup in my next car as I love the sound. My ears are not very audiophilic, so I cat really see much difference in a 96kbps and 160kbps mp3. So getting an expensive system is a waste

ps: if i have missed anything important, which i usually do, please add to the questions posed...
Head Unit : Alpine CDE9845EM 6500INR
Front Tweeters : Alpine SPS 1005 3400INR
Rear Coaxials : Alpine SPS 690 A 2000INR
H.U , I got it from a friend of mine who wanted to change it to a DVD player .

Not very serious but I like neat clear sound with a neat bass.

I listen to anything and everything

I dont know much about this so as to recommend to others , ALPINE's sound great all you have to do is incase it sounds too sweet just lower the trebile as keeping the defeat on spoils the bass.

I feel my set up is great for the price.

Our older car which was sold off some time back had really good ICE
Head unit : Sunny casette player : 800rs
Front speakers : Sonny : 450rs
Rear speakers : Boss and sony(depending upon where you look) : 550rs.

Recommendation:
Definately.
1.you can feel like a truck driver,
2.its really good for modern music with excellent squeel in treble and heart stopping thuds for bass

Note : This is not a joke. This is an actual ICE setup.

Dont know what magic Sony Xplod has wielded on the Cabbies in Bangalore. Most of them have Sonly Xplod speakers and maybe more numbers have HUGE Xplod written all over the body and especially over the Fuel tank flap...

This is but I read somewhere that Sony is 1st or 2nd in the market. Wonder how much our Cabbies' contribution in that

cheers

After spending lot of my time and of course others as well on the ICE forum went ahead and installed a system in my Car. Details as follows.

1. Car : Maruti Zen LXi - 2006

2. What is your setup (Head units, Speakers, Amps, Subetc.)
HU - Sony GT350X (double din, casette + CD/MP3)
Fronts - JBL GTO507C 5.25" Components
Rears - JBL GTO937 6"X9" Coaxials in the parcel tray
Sub - None
Amps - None
Wiring - Stock JBL that was supplied with speakers

3. How much did it cost?
Front Componets are 5k, Rear Co-axials 4.5k. Both white.
HU 7.5K, grey
Total value : 18.7K (including parcel tray, antenna, spacers, socket etc)

4.How serious were your about your system?
Got a bit serious after reading the ICE section on Team-BHP. Budget was fixed at 15K but overshoot by 2K was not at all bad considering the fantastic sound I get now.

5. which kind of music do you listen to ?? prefer deep bass or how is it...
Highly varied. Predominantly both Indian and Western classical. Sometimes rock, gazals, film music etc. Like very clear notes. A lot of my music is vintage recording so not much into Sound staging etc. Not into boom boom types but enjoy the deep notes and double bass.

6. would you recommend it to others???
Yes...provided
- You ride alone or with just one co passenger most of the times
- Listen to classical music predominantly
- You own a small car like with limitation of boot space
- Your budget is in range of 15-17K

7. Place where the setup was done
Sound factor at Lavelle Road, Bangalore
(OK install and I have some complaints)
- Not very gentle with the Car especially while drilling the holes. They are reckless with their powered tools.
- When I asked for flush mount of speakers was ready to drill the door panel without even thinking about the space required. fortunately one more installer arrived in time to stop it and now tweeters are mounted close to A pillar.
- At the last moment told me it would cost me extra if I pay by card. so had to run around to get cash.

8. Future Plans
None at the moment

A big thanks to all the guys on this forum who helped me in getting some very good sound without amps although (I presume) none of them listen to anything classical

Regards
